The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 69

Emma hurried over when she heard the commotion, and only after asking around did she learn what had happened in the living room.

Just then, she glanced up and spotted the three boys standing at the top of the stairs. The smug look in their eyes made Emma’s heart sink—suddenly, everything clicked into place.

Could those little rascals really be behind all this?

Without wasting a second, Emma rushed to the staff quarters and found Ann and Mae.

“Something’s not right,” Emma whispered, lowering her voice. “I’m pretty sure those four brats are behind this mess.”

Mae had just finished changing her clothes, but tear tracks still marked her cheeks. She wiped her face and asked, “What are you saying, Emma? Are you telling me it was those four troublemakers who put glue on the floor?”

Ann glanced around nervously, her voice barely above a whisper. “Emma, do you have any proof? We can’t just go around blaming people without evidence.”

The two maids exchanged anxious, uncertain looks.

Emma snorted. “Who cares? Let’s tell Jack. He’ll bring it up with Mr. Austin, and once he does, those kids and their mother will be out of here in no time.”

Jack was the steward of Sunset Villa Estates, and when he spoke, people listened.

Those brats had already put bugs in her bed and shoes. Who knew what kinds of pranks they’d pull next? Emma was determined to get rid of them—all of them.

The three women found Jack and explained the situation.

Jack’s expression grew grave as he listened.

“You’re certain these things were the work of those four… young masters?” he asked, catching himself before using a harsher word.

Emma was quick to answer. “It’s definitely those four. We might not have hard proof, but who else would pull such childish stunts?”

Mae chimed in, “That’s right, they were already causing trouble on their very first day here. Jack, you have to stand up for us!”

“Noah, Ethan, Aiden! I just heard those three maids talking. They’re planning to get the butler to tell our stepdad and have us thrown out!” Evan blurted, breathless.

Ethan slammed his hand on the table, furious. “Unbelievable! They’re actually snitching on us? And they think they can get our stepdad to kick us out? Clearly, we haven’t taught them a good enough lesson!”

Noah’s face hardened, his eyes steely. “We can’t let them get away with this.”

Aiden nodded in agreement. “Exactly. We need to show them we’re not that easy to push around.”

Jack was a thorough man. He didn’t jump to conclusions but started a careful investigation.

He questioned the other staff, examined the scene, and even checked the security footage.

After his careful inquiry, Jack discovered the truth: it really was those four boys behind the mischief.
