Ethan clenched his fists. “That’s right. We can’t let Mom get bullied. We have to protect her!”
After a quick huddle, the brothers came to a decision: it was time to teach those three housekeepers a lesson.
Half an hour later…
“Noah, we’ve been catching bugs for ages. Don’t you think it’s time we give them a little surprise?” Evan’s eyes sparkled with mischief, a sly grin spreading across his face.
“Yeah, it’s about time. Evan, you take the lead,” Noah replied, handing off the most daring part of the plan to Evan, who was always both bold and meticulous.
Evan snickered, grabbed a bag full of wriggling bugs, and snuck quietly into the maids’ quarters.
He found Emma’s bed and, careful not to make a sound, dumped the contents of the bag all over her sheets.
Then, for good measure, he dropped a few earthworms into her slippers. Once the traps were set, Evan slipped out of the room, silent as a ghost.
Outside, Emma was lounging in the sun, humming to herself, completely oblivious to the chaos brewing in her room.
Still humming, she wandered inside, ready for a nap.
The moment Emma stepped through the door, she slid off her shoes and reached for her slippers. As soon as her feet slipped in, something cold and slimy wriggled beneath her toes, nearly sending her tumbling to the floor.
She glanced down and saw a couple of earthworms squirming in her slippers. With a blood-curdling scream, she kicked them off.
“What on earth?!” Emma shrieked, her voice trembling.
Frantically, she tossed the slippers aside. That’s when she felt something else moving—this time, in her bed. Heart pounding, she flung back the covers.
Her face went ghostly pale. The bed was crawling with bugs—cockroaches, ants, earthworms, and all sorts of disgusting creatures. Emma lost it. Screaming at the top of her lungs, she bolted from the room.
“Help! Somebody help! There are bugs everywhere!” Emma wailed in terror.
The other housekeepers rushed over, alarmed by her cries. When they saw Emma’s panic, they nearly jumped out of their own skins.
“Emma, what happened?” a younger maid asked, wide-eyed.
“My bed is full of bugs! Please, someone clean it up!” Emma begged, her hands shaking.
Ann tried to move, but her hands were stuck to the floor. She pulled and struggled, but it was no use.
The two of them burst into tears. “Help! Somebody, please! We’re stuck!”
The rest of the staff came running, and after a lot of effort, they managed to pry Ann and Mae off the floor.
But as the two maids finally stood up, there was a loud rip. Both Ann’s and Mae’s pants tore clean open, leaving their bare backsides embarrassingly exposed.
Mae shrieked and darted off, clutching her torn pants, with Ann scrambling after her.
Upstairs, Noah, Ethan, and Aiden watched the whole scene unfold, barely able to contain their laughter.
“Serves them right! Let’s see if they dare talk trash about us again,” Ethan said, grinning from the top of the stairs.
“They got exactly what they deserved!” Aiden huffed in satisfaction.
Noah’s gaze grew cold. “Consider this your warning. If they ever speak badly about Mom or us again, it’ll only get worse.”
