The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 599

Mrs. Austin sneered. "If they just had dinner, why did you lie about it just now?"

The driver lowered his head. "Ma'am, the master was afraid you'd get the wrong idea, so he told me not to tell you..."

Before he could finish, Mrs. Austin, furious, grabbed a glass and smashed it on the driver's head.

The driver didn't dare to move and took the blow, a large lump immediately swelling on his forehead.

Her eyes wide with rage, Mrs. Austin yelled, "Get out! And don't bother coming to work tomorrow!"

The driver scrambled out of the living room.

Mrs. Austin sat alone in the living room, a fire of rage burning inside her.

She couldn't believe Jacob would go behind her back to see another woman and even have the driver lie to her.

Thinking back on Jacob's recent behavior—his coldness since that last misunderstanding, the fact they'd even been sleeping in separate rooms—and now this perfume, it was all grating on her nerves.

All sorts of terrible images flooded her mind, and the more she thought, the angrier she became, her hands trembling slightly.

Just as Mrs. Austin was stewing in her anger, Jacob walked in.

He noticed something was wrong and approached her. "What's the matter? Are you not feeling well?"

Mrs. Austin looked up at him, her gaze icy. "You still pretend to care about me? Are you feeling guilty for doing something to wrong me?"

Jacob looked confused. "What did I do? You're not making any sense."

Mrs. Austin sneered. "Still playing dumb? You know very well what you did! Tell me, were you out with some little homewrecker today?"
