The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 495

Meanwhile, Garcia was still waiting, fully expecting to see Rebecca storm out of Dylan’s office after a proper scolding. She couldn’t wait to enjoy the show.

But instead of witnessing a meltdown, Garcia watched as Rebecca emerged from the office cradling four neatly wrapped gift boxes.

Garcia shot up from her seat, eyes wide with shock.

What on earth was going on?

Wasn’t Dylan supposed to be in a foul mood today? Why wasn’t Rebecca getting chewed out? And why—of all things—was she carrying presents?

As Rebecca walked by, her arms full of gifts and a bright smile on her face, Garcia felt her teeth clench so hard she thought her gums might bleed.

Damn it. Why would Dylan give her gifts?

The sight of Rebecca’s cheerful expression stung like salt in a wound. Fuming, Garcia grabbed her purse and stormed out.

Just then, Director Porter stepped out of his office. He caught Garcia sneaking away during office hours and frowned. “Ms. Yates, if you leave your post during work, it’s coming out of your paycheck.”

Garcia didn’t even bother to respond. She didn’t slow down or look back, disappearing down the hall.

Director Porter could only shake his head in exasperation. Garcia’s antics were wearing thin, but there was little he could do.

He glanced down at the formal invitation in his hand with a sense of dread.

After a moment’s hesitation, he walked over to Raina’s desk. “Raina, I have a task for you.”

Rebecca looked up. “What is it?”

Director Porter handed her the envelope. “An important business partner sent this invitation. The CEO is invited to attend a corporate event. Please deliver it to him—and ask whether he’ll be going.”

With that, he turned and left.

Rebecca eyed the invitation, her brow furrowing. She set it aside for the moment; she wasn’t in any hurry to see Dylan either, and apparently, neither was Director Porter.
