The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 365

Dylan’s mother was so furious at her son’s insistence on defending Rebecca that she hung up on him without a word.

But Dylan wasn’t exactly feeling great himself. The only reason he’d said what he did was to shield Rebecca in front of his mother; now, alone in his office late at night, he couldn’t shake the agitation churning inside him. He lit a cigarette, letting the swirling smoke blur the harsh edges of his thoughts.

His mind was a tangled mess, not only because of tonight’s phone call but all the recent chaos.

His memory of Rebecca was still stuck on their first meeting—she’d looked a lot like Becky, his late sister, though her style was a little eccentric. But that had never mattered to him; he wasn’t the type to judge people by appearances. Lately, though, his opinion of Rebecca had hit rock bottom. She seemed cold, unwilling to come home even when her grandfather was ill, always quick with an excuse.

Cheating… well, he couldn’t be sure about that one, at least not yet.

Still, she’d been gone so long it felt like their marriage was nothing more than a formality. Who knew what she was up to in all this time apart? The thought made his nerves prickle with unease. He couldn’t have another scandal like last time.

Then there was Garcia, who’d strutted into his office tonight wearing something absurdly provocative. Wasn’t that just another one of his mother’s schemes? What exactly were those women plotting?

Did his mother think he was some kind of medieval king, ready for her to parade potential wives or mistresses in front of him? If she really didn’t understand the law, maybe he ought to find someone to give her a lesson.

Dylan drew in a long breath, frown etched deep on his face.

No one around him seemed capable of giving him a moment’s peace. The more he thought about it, the less he wanted to go home. Only work could keep his mind from spinning out on all this madness.

The next day, a group of new staff arrived at Sunset Villa Estates.

Mrs. Thomson, worried that her daughter and grandchildren would be left unattended after Rebecca had fired the unreliable old staff, had specially arranged for several trusted employees from the Thomson family’s household to take care of them.

Meanwhile, the four kids were busy upstairs.

Noah was glued to his laptop, deep in concentration, when Ethan wandered over, curiosity shining in his eyes. “Noah, anything interesting happen lately?”

Chapter 365 3

Ethan’s eyes went wide. “How is that not a big deal? Wait—did Qian Qian actually succeed in flirting with Dad?”

Noah had already reviewed every bit of surveillance footage from the Frost Group’s offices—obviously, nothing had happened.
