Aiden let out a delighted cry. “Look! Dad’s here too!”
His little face lit up with a beaming smile, eyes sparkling with excitement.
Then, practically bouncing with joy, Aiden exclaimed, “Dad actually came to the event with Mom! Do you think they’re dating?”
Aiden’s mind swirled with all sorts of happy fantasies. The thought of Mom and Dad together felt so warm and comforting.
Evan frowned, thoughtful. “I’m not sure, but Mom looks really beautiful today, and Dad’s got that whole confident thing going on. They look perfect together.”
Noah, after thinking seriously for a second, grew solemn. “Remember, we snuck out without Mom knowing. We can’t let her catch us. Evan, go find Ethan and tell him we need to make our escape.”
Evan nodded. “Got it.” Without another word, he took off in Ethan’s direction.
Aiden, meanwhile, kept gazing at his dad, his smile brighter than ever. “Noah, I finally get to see Dad. I really want to go talk to him.”
Longing filled Aiden’s eyes—he ached to get close, to feel his father’s warmth, even for a moment.
Noah saw the hope in Aiden’s face and his heart softened, but he stayed firm. “There’ll be lots of chances later. We can’t rush this.”
He knew now wasn’t the time to take risks. If Mom found them, she’d be angry for sure.
Aiden nodded, wise beyond his years. “Okay. Once Mom and Dad are together, I’ll get to see Dad every day.”
Even though he looked a little downcast, Aiden understood Noah’s logic.
He couldn’t help but dream of the day Mom and Dad would really be together, and their family could finally be whole and happy.
A man nearby frowned thoughtfully. “No idea, but judging by their style and the way they carry themselves, they’re definitely not ordinary guests.”
Others chimed in, “Yeah, look at their presence. Maybe they’re from some powerful family.”
Just then, Marico Gellar, patriarch of the Gellar family, appeared.
He wore a dark, elegant suit with a quiet authority that commanded attention, exuding an air of dignity and confidence. The whole room erupted in whispers at his arrival.
“Oh my god, that’s the head of the Gellar family greeting them personally! Who on earth are these two?” someone gasped in surprise.
“They must be somebody important—if the master of the Gellar family is welcoming them himself, they’re definitely a big deal,” another person agreed, nodding.
