Emily nearly jumped out of her seat with excitement. “Really? Are you serious? That’s amazing!”
Her family wasn’t exactly well-off, and she could only catch a concert now and then by pinching every penny. Now, with free tickets practically handed to her, of course she was more than happy to tag along.
The two of them arrived at the venue, which was already buzzing with energy. The crowd’s excitement was almost tangible.
Crystal led the way, head held high, while Emily trailed behind, wide-eyed and taking in everything around her.
“Wow, this place is incredible!” Emily couldn’t help but exclaim.
Crystal smirked with pride. “Of course it is. We’re at Michael’s concert, after all.”
She flashed their two VIP tickets and they breezed through security straight into the main hall.
Emily looked around at the luxurious decor, so thrilled she didn’t know what to do with her hands. “Crystal, I’ve never had seats this good at a concert before.”
Crystal chuckled. “Stick with me and you’ll see the perks.”
Then, without missing a beat, Crystal turned to her. “You said you’d help me figure things out with Dylan. It’s been ages and you still haven’t come up with anything?”
Emily looped her arm through Crystal’s, trying to play it cool. “Relax, these things take time. Guys like Dylan don’t just fall into your lap overnight.”
Crystal pulled her arm away, clearly annoyed. “Take my time? Rebecca’s already living with him! I literally caught her bringing him lunch the other day. Their relationship is getting closer by the minute. If I wait any longer, I’ll lose my chance entirely!”
Emily felt a twinge of guilt—she was always being dragged into Crystal’s love life, always expected to come up with a brilliant plan. Last time, she’d nearly gotten herself into serious trouble for Crystal’s sake.
But Crystal just sighed. “He doesn’t have any hobbies. His only interest is work.”
Emily frowned, frustrated. “Honestly, he sounds so dull. Why are you even into him? There are so many guys out there, and you could have any one you wanted. Why not move on?”
But Crystal shot her a glare. “No way. He’s the best man in the world, and I, Crystal, deserve the best.”
Emily threw up her hands. “Fine, fine, I’ll keep thinking.”
Crystal narrowed her eyes. “Instead of coming up with plans for Dylan, maybe you should focus on how to get rid of Rebecca. If she’s out of the picture, I’ll have my shot.”
Emily’s heart skipped a beat. Going up against Rebecca was no small feat, but with Crystal’s forceful personality, she didn’t dare protest openly.
