The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 209

Sensing another opportunity, Crystal boldly offered the concert ticket once more.

“Dylan, come with me, please? Michael’s concerts are absolutely incredible.” Her eyes sparkled with anticipation as she watched him.

Dylan’s brow furrowed. “I already told you, I’m not interested. Stop pestering me.”

Crystal’s smile froze, but she refused to give up. “But I already bought the tickets. If you don’t come, I’ll have to go alone, and that’s just… boring.”

Without even glancing at her, Dylan replied coldly, “That’s your problem, not mine.”

Crystal bit her lip, stubbornness flickering in her eyes. “Dylan, I know things aren’t great between you and my sister. This could be a chance to relax, you know? Maybe after the concert, you’ll feel better, and it might even help with… you know, your relationship.”

Dylan’s frown deepened. “And how exactly do you know things aren’t good between me and your sister?”

Crystal hesitated for a split second, then forced a smile. “I just guessed.”

Dylan gave a cold, humorless chuckle. “Guessed? You’re overthinking things. My relationship with her is perfectly fine.”

Crystal’s forced grin faltered. “Is… is that true?”

He stared at her, face expressionless, voice icy. “Of course it’s true. Don’t act like you know everything.”

She searched his face for any sign he was lying, but the coldness in his eyes made her shiver.

Still unwilling to let it go, she pressed, “But, Dylan, if things are good, then why have you been living at the office and not coming home?”

Dylan’s eyes narrowed, his tone even colder. “That’s between your sister and me. It’s none of your business.”

When she arrived, Emily’s concern was immediate. “Crystal, what happened?”

Crystal recounted everything that had happened in Dylan’s office. Emily tried to comfort her. “Don’t take it too hard. Maybe he really is just busy with work, or maybe concerts just aren’t his thing.”

Crystal pressed her lips together, still frustrated. “It feels like nothing I do ever makes him happy.”

Emily squeezed her hand. “Don’t dwell on it. Besides, you didn’t call me just to vent, did you?”

Crystal suddenly remembered the tickets. “Come on—let’s go to the concert together.”

Emily looked puzzled. “Concert? But I don’t have a ticket.”

Crystal rolled her eyes. “I’ve got tickets. Just come with me.”
