The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 128

Dylan’s expression darkened as he snapped, “None of your business!”

Jonas’s eyes sparkled with mischief as he grinned. “Come on, Dylan, why don’t you just leave your fortune to me? When you kick the bucket, I’ll spend it all for you—and I’ll even have a few strapping sons to help me burn through it.”

Dylan shot him a withering glare. “In your dreams! Look at you—lazy as ever. You think I’d let you inherit my money? Keep dreaming.”

Jonas didn’t seem bothered at all. He just kept smiling, as if Dylan’s words rolled right off him. “Don’t be so heartless, Dylan. We’re practically brothers—even if we’re only cousins by blood, we’re closer than most siblings. If you’re not giving your money to me, who else would you leave it to? Besides, what am I supposed to do in Veridia? I don’t know anyone there—it sounds painfully boring.”

Dylan’s tone grew serious as he frowned. “You’re going to Veridia to expand the business. It’s good for you and good for the Frost Group. You need to start thinking about more than just partying and enjoying yourself—it’s time you got serious about something.”

Jonas heaved a dramatic sigh. “Alright, alright. But at least tell me what exactly I’m supposed to do. I don’t want to get there and be completely lost.”

Dylan straightened up, his voice turning businesslike. “There are a few potential partnerships we need you to negotiate. You’ll also be doing market research, getting a feel for the local scene, and coming up with a strategy. You’re in charge.”

Jonas listened, already looking overwhelmed. “Geez, that sounds like a hassle. Are you sure I’m up for it?”

Dylan’s expression softened just a little. “You’ll never know unless you try. I believe you can handle it.”

Jonas scratched his head, half-reluctant and half-amused. “Alright, if you say so, I’ll give it a shot. But don’t forget our deal—you’ll keep an eye on things at Frost family headquarters for me.”

Dylan nodded. “You have my word.”

With that, Jonas stood up and stretched. “Okay then, I’ll go get ready.”

As Jonas disappeared out the door, Dylan couldn’t help but shake his head, a rueful smile tugging at his lips. He could only hope this trip would finally force Jonas to grow up.

Jonas had barely left when Dennis returned.

Without looking up from his paperwork, Dylan asked coolly, “Did you deliver the message?”

Emboldened, Dennis stepped forward, his eyes lighting up with excitement. “Mr. Austin, you have no idea—Mrs. Austin is absolutely stunning. I saw her today, and I was honestly blown away. I’ve never seen anyone so beautiful. Honestly, you hit the jackpot, sir.”

Dylan set his glass down and looked at Dennis as if he’d just sprouted a second head. “Dennis, are you sure your eyes are working properly?”

Dennis blinked in confusion, not quite sure what to say. Before he could respond, Dylan added, “You might want to schedule an eye exam.”

With that, Dylan grabbed the file from his desk, strode out of the office, and left Dennis standing there, dumbfounded.

Dennis stood frozen for a moment before muttering to himself, “Mr. Austin just doesn’t appreciate good taste. Mrs. Austin really is a beauty. Maybe he just hasn’t noticed.”

He shook his head, resigned. Well, if Mr. Austin actually cared, he wouldn’t spend all his time holed up at the office.

Mr. Austin’s standards are sky-high—who knows what kind of woman could ever catch his eye?
