The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 129

Rebecca hurried into Samuel’s office, anxiety written all over her face. She perched on the edge of the couch, her posture tense and restless, while Samuel sat across from her, perfectly composed, arms folded and eyes half-closed in his usual air of calm authority.

Breaking the silence, Rebecca couldn’t wait any longer. “Samuel, what on earth happened? I heard the four kids went to the Austin Group, and then your guys ended up roughing up their employees?”

Samuel leaned back, fingers interlaced across his chest. His gaze narrowed, and he replied evenly, “Becky, here’s what happened. Yesterday, the kids somehow made their way to the Austin Group. The receptionist and security over there stopped them—and not just that, they actually mocked the kids, said some pretty nasty things. Their attitude was downright vile.”

Rebecca frowned, concern flickering in her eyes.

Samuel let out a sharp, derisive huff. “After I heard about it, you think I’d just let that slide? No way. I sent a couple of my men over to teach those idiots a lesson they’d never forget.”

Rebecca’s face cleared in realization. “So that’s what happened…”

But then she wondered—Dennis hadn’t mentioned that their employees bullied the children. Was he deliberately covering up the truth?

Just then, Samuel sat forward and looked her straight in the eye. “Becky, why are you suddenly asking about this? Did Dylan come looking for trouble?”

Rebecca shook her head quickly. “No, he didn’t. I just wanted to find out the real story, that’s all.”

Samuel’s gaze grew firm. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll handle everything. No one messes with the Thomson family’s kids and gets away with it.”

Rebecca’s brow knitted again. “I know you mean well for the children, but… are you sure Dylan won’t come after you for this?”

Samuel gave a cold, dismissive laugh. “What’s there to be afraid of? The Thomsons aren’t exactly pushovers. If Dylan wants a fight, I’ll be ready. Becky, you just focus on taking care of yourself and the kids. Leave the rest to me.”

Rebecca nodded, though her worry lingered. “Just… promise me you’ll be careful, Samuel.”

She had an almost porcelain complexion, flawless and luminous. Her face was delicately shaped, with a soft, rounded jawline that gave her an air of gentle elegance. Her hair fell in loose waves, brushing her slender shoulders, and sunlight streaming through the glass seemed to wrap her in a glowing halo, making her look almost ethereal.

Dylan found it hard to look away.

And for some reason, Rebecca from Sunset Villa Estates popped into his mind—quirky, eccentric, a complete wildcard. He frowned, the contrast between the two women so stark it was almost laughable.

He shook his head, as if to banish Rebecca’s image from his thoughts.

Stepping out of his car, he straightened his suit jacket and strode toward the Thomson Group’s entrance, exuding confidence with every step. Meanwhile, Rebecca’s car pulled away from the curb.

Upstairs, Samuel was waiting for Dylan’s arrival. The moment they set eyes on each other in the executive office, the atmosphere snapped taut with tension.
