Chapter 466
Daven gave a faint, crooked smile. “In that case, you’d better loop in Detective Aaron as well.”
“Of course.”
Not only Chris-Cale did the same, preparing to move toward the location where Harold was most likely hiding. The evidence they had gathered wasn’t perfect, but it was enough. At the very least, if Harold ended up in their hands, the chaos he’d caused could finally be stopped.
That sense of momentum was abruptly interrupted when the phone in Daven’s hand vibrated sharply. The sound cut through the quiet room where they were still discussing their next move. Arsen’s name flashed on the
screen.
Daven answered immediately.
“Yes?”
The voice on the other end was tight, almost breathless. “Mr. Daven, the prosecution has arrived at Callister Group headquarters. Right now.”
Daven straightened. “How many?”
“More than ten,” Arsen replied quickly. “They brought an official notice for a follow-up investigation. And… the press has already flooded the front entrance. Every major outlet is here.”
Daven closed his eyes briefly. “The charges?”
“Several, sir. But the most serious ones are tied to the JiangShe project-allegations of financial report manipulation, project fund embezzlement, and conflicts of interest with local partners. There are also issues involving residents being driven to protest. That’s what prompted the prosecution to step in.”
Daven let out a long breath. “Did they mention detention?”
“Not officially,” Arsen said. “But they’re requesting your presence for clarification today.”
“All right,” Daven replied firmly. “I’ll be there.”
The call ended.
Daven lowered his phone slowly. His expression was calm—too calm for a situation like this. He looked from
Chris to Cale in turn.
In the dim room, Oscar laughed a short, broken sound, laced with pain he couldn’t fully suppress.
“Ha… ha… ha,” he coughed. “Finally.”
Cale turned sharply. “What’s so funny?”
Oscar lifted his bruised face. “It’s all started. Exactly the way Harold planned it. Just like what was said earlier, right? Didn’t you hear it?”
Chris clenched his fists. The man was right. Chris hadn’t forgotten the conversation they’d overheard. Oscar’s phone had been tapped-they’d heard every word clearly.

But now Chris needed to understand one thing, precisely and without doubt: why Harold had chosen to drag the prosecution into Callister Group’s business.
“Say it clearly. What is he planning?”
“To bring down CEO Callister,” Oscar repeated softly but distinctly. His voice was hoarse, yet every word settled heavily in the air. “Not just his business. His family, too.”
The words struck like a spark in a room already filled with gas. Daven, who had been standing rigid with his jaw clenched, finally snapped.
Without warning, he grabbed Oscar by the hair and yanked his head back viciously. Oscar’s neck stretched tight, his breath choking in his throat, eyes blown wide in disbelief at what was happening. There was nowhere for him to look-nowhere to escape-forced to meet Daven’s gaze, dark and blazing with fury.
“Say it clearly,” Daven hissed, low and lethal. “What do you mean by that?”
“Ugh-!” Oscar groaned, his body jerking as he tried to struggle, but two of Cale’s men immediately clamped down on his shoulders, pinning him to the metal chair.
“SAY IT!” Daven roared, his voice echoing through the dim room.
((
Oscar twisted a crooked smile through the pain. Fresh blood seeped from the corner of his mouth, dripping slowly onto the concrete floor. “Callister Group has to be destroyed,” he said, gasping through the agony. Systematically. Slowly. Until there’s not a single way left for them to save themselves.”
Daven’s grip tightened.
“Daven has to go to prison,” Oscar went on. “That’s the primary condition.”
The room seemed to shrink in an instant. Cold air pressed heavily against everyone’s chest.
“And Selena?” Cale cut in sharply. “What does Selena have to do with this?”
Oscar looked away for a brief second, then lifted his gaze again. “She has to get into the Miller family house,” he answered without hesitation. “By any means necessary.
The words hung in the air, dense with questions they still had no answers to.
Chris turned quickly toward Cale, his brow deeply furrowed. “Get into the Miller house for what?”
Oscar shook his head slowly. This time, his voice sounded more honest. “I don’t know. That part was never explained to me by Harold.”
Cale stepped forward and grabbed Oscar by the collar, hauling him halfway out of the chair. “You’re joking.”
“No, Mr. Miller. I’m not,” Oscar panted. “You’ve beaten me half to death. But this time, I truly don’t know why Harold is forcing Selena into your family home. My only job was to make sure the first phase worked.”
