“Oh, my,” she murmured. “I never imagined this day would come. Chris is getting married. And how lucky Chris is to have a future wife like you, Naomi.”

Naomi smiled shyly. “Aunt Riana.”

Riana held her hand. “I'm sorry. I'm just too happy.”

Nathan stood beside his wife with a calmer smile, but the pride on his face was difficult to hide.

“My son finally made the right decision,” he said.

Josh immediately called out from behind them. “Don't praise Uncle Chris too soon. He's not even married yet. I just hope he doesn't make a mistake at the altar later.”

Everyone laughed.

Nathan turned toward him. “I feel like you're becoming more mischievous, Josh.” He stared intently at his beloved grandson. “Are you sad that your uncle is getting married?”

“Not at all,” Josh retorted with a sulky pout. “Even after he's married, I'll still be a nuisance in his life.”

“Isn't it the other way around?” Grace scoffed. “You're the one Uncle Chris has to put up with.”

Laughter filled the room once again.

Naomi watched them all and suddenly felt something difficult to explain. In the past, she might have felt nervous being among such a large family. Now, she simply felt accepted. There was no distance between them. No looks that made her feel like an outsider.

Everyone in the Miller family accepted her with affection.

Riana then looked at the dress Naomi was wearing. “What do you think?”

Naomi looked at the mirror again. This time, she did not answer immediately. She studied her reflection for a few seconds before giving a small smile.

“I like this one.”

Grace smiled in relief. Eli nodded in satisfaction.

“If that's the case,” Riana said gently, “then don't listen to anyone else anymore. If you like it, that's enough.”

Naomi nodded happily.

Then Josh's voice was heard again. “Great. That means we can go home.”

“Your mother is helping take care of some of it,” Nathan replied.

“Jewelry, the house, decorations,” Chris sighed heavily. “I don't even know where to start.”

Nathan looked at his son for a moment before giving a faint smile. “Are you trying to outdo the Devereux family? Cale said they're all competing to give Naomi the best gifts.”

Chris immediately shook his head. “No.”

The answer came quickly, but after a few seconds, he fell silent again. He truly did not want to compete with anyone. That was not what was making him uneasy. What he was thinking about was Naomi. He knew she accepted all those gifts because she did not want to disappoint her family, but Chris also knew that Naomi had never asked for an extravagant life. She only wanted to feel loved without having to pay for it with herself.

“I just want to give her something,” Chris finally said. “Something that truly comes from me.”

Nathan closed the document in his hands. “Then don't look for something that seems expensive.”

Chris looked at his father.

“Find something that no one else can give her.”

The words stayed in his mind even after the conversation ended. From that day on, Chris began setting aside time between his work to quietly take care of something. He did not tell Naomi about it. Nor Cale. Even when Josh tried to pry for information, Chris remained silent.
