Chapter 467
“Once you’re inside.” Oscar continued his voice dropping even lower, “Callister Group will be paralyzed. The beart of commissioners will scramble to save themselves, including Bret, who personally gave me my orders. Domestic and foreign investors will start quilling out. I think it began a few days ago. And the media will only SAM MINTE aggressive in reporting on Duren Callister”
There was a brief pause before Oscar went on. He lifted his face, looking at Daven without a hint of a smile. “And winle you’re busy dealing with the prosecution, you won’t have the space to look around.”
Deven understood.
Not because he was weak-but because the system Harold bad designed left him with no room to move.
You ll be bound by legal procedures. “Oscar continued “Interrogations, communication restrictions, surveillance—all of it used by the prosecution to shut you down. Every move you make will be monitored. Every decision you make will be framed as an attempt to save yourself”
Cale’s hand curled inco a fisc. “And during that time—”
“Sarold is free to more.” Oscar cut in. “Because one of the people he wants to bring down will already be tranged insite his game.”
Chris turned away, his for tightening “So all of this is just the opening move.”
Oscar nodded weakly. “Callister Group is the first target. Once it falls, the rest will be much easier.”
is one of those….my mother’s death
The question slipped from Deven’s ps without warning. No preparation. No one saw it coming—and that was exactly why the room froze. Every head turned toward him. Even the sound of breathing seemed to stop.
Oscar glanced at Daven. The look lasted only a fraction of a second-long enough to reveal hesitation, long enough to show that the answer was there. The next moment, Oscar looked away, lowered his head, and chose

A silence that was wrong-because it had already given them the answer.
Chris moved first. “ANSWER ME, DAMN IT!
His fist slammed into Oscar’s face without mercy. The impact echoed brutally, as if Chris had put his full force into it. Oscar’s head snapped to the side, blood spraying once more from lips that hadn’t even dried from the previous wounds.
Oscar groaned in agony, his body rigid against the metal chair. “Y-yes,” he gasped, breath ragged. “That too… was part of his plan.”
The words fell one by one.
And each of them struck Daven harder than any blow ever could.
He stood frozen where he was. Not because he couldn’t move–but because his entire body felt hollow all at

His mother.

Her face surfaced in his mind without warning. That gentle smile. The way she used to pat his shoulder whenever Daven came home late. Her voice, always reminding him not to work too hard. To come home earlier so he could spend time with his child. The way she had come to visit back then-to see her two grandchildren.
All of it had been the opening move of someone else’s wicked plan.
Daven let out a short laugh, one steeped in suffocating pain. “The opening move,” he murmured. “So he started with my mother.

His hands trembled-not with fear, but with something he’d been holding back for far too long. He took a step back. Then another. And suddenly-
BANG!
The steel table toppled over as Daven swept it aside with a brutal shove. A nearby chair was flung with it, slamming hard into the wall. A water bottle shattered. Glass rattled. In mere seconds, the room that had once been controlled descended into chaos.
“BASTARD!” Daven finally roared.
The sound tore out of his chest-raw with rage and grief he’d never truly allowed himself to mourn.
“My mother had NOTHING to do with this business!” he shouted again. “She didn’t know anything! She was involved in NOTHING!”
He kicked the metal chair in front of him. It rolled and spun wildly before crashing into the corner of the room.
“Is he that much of a coward,” Daven’s voice thundered, “that he had to kill an old woman just to start his game?!”
His chest heaved violently. His eyes burned red-not from falling tears, but from emotions too vast to be
contained.
Cale didn’t stop him. Neither did Chris. They knew this wasn’t a simple outburst. This was a wound that had finally found its voice.
Daven turned back to Oscar. His gaze was no longer just cold-it was empty, and far more dangerous for it.
“He knew,” Daven said quietly, almost in a whisper. “He knew I’d fall apart if he touched my mother.”
Oscar swallowed hard, his face pale. “Your mother’s death… destabilized you,” he said, his voice barely audible. “And at that point, Harold knew… you’d focus on only one thing.”
Daven laughed again. This time louder. More bitter.
“Burying my mother,” he said. “And while I was standing at her grave-he started writing all of this.”
He slammed his fist into the wall. Once. Twice. The impact echoed, fresh blood spilling from his knuckles.
Daven didn’t seem to feel it at all.
“I thought it was an accident,” he rasped. “I thought-” He couldn’t finish. “But it was all designed by that bastard Harold?”

The room fell silent again. A silence thick with the unbearable grief of Daven Callister. Chris clenched his jaw tightly. Cale let out a long breath, his eyes never leaving Daven.
“In that case,” Cale said quietly, “I don’t care how deep Harold’s plan goes anymore.
He stared at Oscar without blinking.
“He’s already taken something he can never give back.”
The room felt heavy beneath those words. And for the first time, Oscar looked truly afraid. Because he knew- the man standing before him now was no longer the CEO Callister being toyed with by a layered, cunning
scheme.
