It was already four o'clock by the time they returned to the estate.
Luke went straight back to West Hill Residence.
Ivy was staying closely by Willa's side. Willa had just taken her medication and fallen asleep. Seeing Luke standing at the doorway, Ivy pressed a finger to her lips, then got up and walked out, gently pulling the bedroom door shut behind her.
"How is he?" Ivy asked.
"The doctor said he is fine. He is completely out of danger," Luke replied softly.
Ivy breathed a deep sigh of relief. "That is good."
"How is Willa doing?"
"Her emotions are not very stable."
"I have already contacted a psychiatrist," Luke said. "I think Willa needs to receive professional treatment right now."
Ivy fell silent for a long moment. "Actually, the best psychiatrist in the world cannot compare to having you by her side."
Luke did not hesitate for a second. "I will be there for her."
Ivy nodded, pressing her lips together as profound guilt pooled in her eyes. "Luke, I really should apologize to you. I am the one who dragged you into this mess."
If she had not asked Luke to take care of Willa back then, none of this would have ever happened. But at the time, she honestly did not know who else to turn to for help.
"You do not need to apologize to me," Luke assured her warmly. "I did it all willingly. I do not want you or Willa to feel guilty. All I want right now is for Willa to be okay. If you keep feeling guilty, it will just make me feel incredibly helpless."
Ivy tipped her head back and offered a small, appreciative smile. "Alright, then I will not say it again."
Ivy stayed at the house and cooked dinner herself. Luke remained in the bedroom with Willa. Watching her furrowed brow, he reached out to hold her trembling hand, speaking in a warm and gentle voice. "Do not be afraid. It is over now. Everything will be alright."
