Hogan rushed forward. "Mr. Thomson, regarding your father's savior, I think there's been a misunderstanding. My daughter Katherine has worn that jade pendant since she was a child. How could she not be the girl from that day?"
George glanced at Katherine, then said, "Mr. Foster, we have conducted a thorough investigation. Although it was a long time ago, my father has a very clear memory of the person who saved him. We are certain it was not Ms. Foster."
Katherine couldn't help but blurt out, "You must be mistaken. I am that girl. I have the jade pendant to prove it."
George shook his head. "Ms. Foster, the pendant doesn't prove everything. Are you absolutely certain you grew up in the Foster family?"
Katherine froze.
Hogan's face turned pale. What was happening? Had George already investigated Kathy's background?
He hadn't expected the Thomson family to be so thorough.
But he wasn't ready to give up. "Mr. Thomson, could you at least tell us who the real savior is?"
George said with a wry smile, "Mr. Foster, you were standing right there when the little girl saved my father. Are you saying you don't know who it was?"
Hogan was left speechless.
Katherine said indignantly, "Mr. Thomson, you're wrong! That little girl was me, not Rebecca!"
Hogan's heart sank. He couldn't believe Katherine had just blurted it out.
He had planned to handle this more delicately.

Katherine added angrily, "That's right! If you're not going to help, then give us back our pendant!"
George frowned slightly. "This pendant has always belonged to the Thomson family. Why would I 'return' it to you?"
"You!"
Hogan couldn't believe how shameless George was being. He clenched his fists. "Mr. Harold gave that pendant to the Foster family. If you're going to deny the favor, why are you stealing my pendant?"
George said flatly, "Who said I'm denying the favor? As I said, my father acknowledges it and will repay the person who deserves it. Mr. Foster, you should leave now."
Hogan wasn't about to leave without the pendant. "No. I'm not leaving today unless you give it back."
