But Rebecca couldn't be bothered to argue with her.
At the end of the day, she was just a maid.
Besides, as long as Rebecca stayed away from the estate, she wouldn't have to see Emma's face. It wasn't worth wasting her breath.
Rebecca narrowed her eyes, her gaze turning cold. "Emma, you'd be wise to watch yourself."
With that, she turned to leave the garden.
Emma glared at Rebecca's back, feeling resentful and furious.
"Hmph, no wonder the Old Master and Mrs. Austin can't stand you. You're the most arrogant 'young mistress' I've ever seen."
Growing angrier, Emma spat in the direction of Rebecca's retreating back and muttered a curse under her breath.
However, this scene was witnessed by Jonas, who happened to be passing by.
The sight of the young lady made Jonas's heart pound with excitement.
He wanted nothing more than to rush over and catch up with her.
But he couldn't stand to see anyone bullying her, especially not this maid.
He marched up to Emma and yelled, "You're a maid! Is that how you treat a guest?"
Rebecca stopped in her tracks when she heard Jonas's voice.
Jonas strode toward Emma, pointing an accusatory finger at her. "I'm talking to you! What was that foul language you were just spewing?"
Emma jumped, startled by Jonas's appearance. "I... I didn't say anything!"
Jonas clenched his fists. "Still denying it? I saw you spit at her! How dare you treat my young lady like that? Are you looking for a fight?"
With that, Jonas raised his fist.
Of course she remembered he was Dylan's cousin.
Jonas shot a glare at Emma, his eyes once again filled with anger and disgust. "I'm in a good mood now, so I'll let it slide. But if I ever see you bullying her again, I'll make you pay. Now, get lost!"
Emma, pale with fear, knew better than to provoke this spoiled heir. She scrambled to her feet and fled.
Once Emma was gone, Jonas could hardly contain his excitement, his cheeks flushing red. "I finally found you!"
Rebecca felt the pressure of his grip on her shoulders and frowned slightly. "Um, can you let go of me first?"
Realizing he was being inappropriate, Jonas quickly released her, his expression apologetic. "Sorry, I was just too excited..."
He scratched his head, his ears turning red.
"Excited?" Rebecca looked at him, confused. "You just said, 'I finally found you.' Have you been looking for me for a long time?"
