The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 493

When Rebecca returned to the office, a thick tension hung in the air. She had no idea what had happened, but everyone’s nerves were strung tight.

She barely had time to process the atmosphere before Director Porter rushed out of the CEO’s office, looking deeply troubled. He was in such a hurry that he nearly collided with Garcia in the hallway.

Garcia’s hand wobbled, almost sending her coffee sloshing over the rim.

Temper flaring, Garcia snapped, “Are you blind? What’s got you running around like a lunatic?”

Director Porter had no patience for her theatrics. His mind was consumed by the CEO’s fury; he couldn’t care less about Garcia’s complaints. “The boss is in a bad mood today. You’d all better stay out of his way.”

Garcia’s frown deepened, her curiosity piqued. “What happened? Why’s he in such a foul mood?”

Porter just shook his head. He wasn’t a mind reader—how could he possibly know what was going on in the CEO’s head?

“No idea. But trust me, it’s not pretty.”

With that, he hurried off. The less said, the better; he had plenty of work to do and no time to waste.

Garcia watched him go, puzzled. Dylan in a bad mood? Maybe it was best not to tempt fate today.

Just then, she spotted Rebecca and strode over, thrusting her coffee into Rebecca’s hands without warning.

Rebecca nearly dropped the cup, startled by Garcia’s abruptness.

“Take this in to the boss for me,” Garcia ordered, her tone making it clear she wasn’t asking.

Rebecca scowled. “Why can’t you—”

“Because you’re the secretary. This is your job,” Garcia cut her off, a sly gleam in her eyes. She spun on her heel and left, privately hoping Dylan really was in a bad mood and would take it out on Rebecca.
