Seeing Becky’s serious expression, Samuel immediately straightened up as well. “What’s on your mind, Becky? Go ahead.”
Rebecca’s brow furrowed, worry clouding her face. “Don’t you think you’ve assigned a bit too much work to Noah lately? He’s been glued to his laptop all the time—even on our way here, he was still busy with something.”
Samuel looked puzzled.
He was certain he hadn’t given Noah that much to do lately.
Could it be that Noah had secretly taken on some big project behind his back?
His nephew was nothing if not shrewd.
But since Becky brought it up, Samuel didn’t argue. “Alright, I’ll take your advice.”
Rebecca felt a little relief wash over her when he agreed so readily.
Then Samuel glanced at Rebecca, a flicker of admiration in his eyes. “You look really lovely today, Becky.”
Rebecca rolled her eyes slightly. “Blame Ethan. He insisted I wear this.”
Ethan?
Samuel’s gaze shifted to Ethan, his brows knitting together.
That wasn’t what he meant, though. Ever since they’d walked in, Samuel had noticed every man in the gym stealing glances at Rebecca.
The sight made his frown deepen. He regretted not clearing out the place beforehand.
Rebecca was beautiful—he’d always known that—but he hated the thought of her being ogled by a bunch of random men. In his mind, Becky was someone precious, someone who deserved to be protected.
As Samuel’s icy stare swept the room, the men quickly shifted their focus elsewhere.
Samuel said, “Next time, maybe opt for something a little more conservative when you go out. Don’t indulge Ethan’s mischief.”
