The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 368

Because for Crystal, marrying into the Thomson family was her golden ticket—her way in.

She let out a long sigh. “Fine. What do you want me to do?”

A glint of cold determination flashed in Crystal’s eyes. “I need you to look into a woman named Garcia. There’s something off about her. I think she’s trying to get close to Dylan.”

Emily was taken aback. “Crystal, are you still hung up on Dylan?”

Crystal scoffed. “Why shouldn’t I be? The only way I’ll ever be the happiest woman in the world is if I take Dylan away from Rebecca and put her beneath my feet.”

A wild, desperate look twisted Crystal’s face. Her obsession with Dylan had burrowed deep into her bones.

Emily hesitated. “So you want to go after Garcia?”

Crystal narrowed her eyes. “Not necessarily…”

After all, the enemy of my enemy could be my friend.

She hadn’t quite figured out what to do about Garcia yet. Her suspicion had only started last night, after she’d ended up at the local police station and couldn’t shake a nagging sense that something was wrong—as if she’d swallowed something she shouldn’t have.

But she hadn’t even eaten dinner, just had a heated argument with Garcia. They’d been up close, and in the middle of the shouting match, Crystal had caught a strange scent on Garcia’s clothes. She hadn’t paid much attention at the time, but later, as the officers led her away, she’d started to feel odd.

That’s when it hit her—maybe Garcia had tried to slip Dylan some kind of love potion, and Crystal had gotten in the way by accident.

Just her luck. She’d spent the whole night at the station feeling off.

Thankfully, whatever it was, it was only a faint trace, not enough to make her lose control or do anything humiliating. She gritted her teeth and toughed it out.

Meanwhile, Noah listened to Crystal’s scheming without so much as a flicker of emotion.

To him, all that jealousy and backstabbing was beneath his notice.

He focused on what really mattered.

He’d already memorized the license plate of the car that had taken Crystal away.

“Let’s head back,” Noah instructed.

Chapter 368 3

Noah shot him a look, his eyes cold and commanding. “That’s none of your concern. I’ll let you know when I need you.”
