The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 342

Rebecca couldn’t wrap her head around it—Joyce was the heiress of the Gellar family, yet she was working as a personal assistant to a CEO. Why on earth would someone of her status go out of her way to give such an expensive gift just to win her over?

It all felt a bit too much, and Rebecca, unsettled by the gesture, didn’t feel right accepting it.

So she politely declined. “Ms. Gellar, this is far too generous. I really can’t accept it.”

But Joyce just smiled and insisted, “Come on, take it. I consider you a good friend.”

Her tone was so warm and genuine, it was impossible to brush off as a joke.

Rebecca tried to refuse a couple more times, but Joyce’s enthusiasm was relentless. In the end, she gave in and accepted the silk scarf. “Thank you. It’s beautiful—I really do like it.”

Joyce beamed. “You’re welcome! I’m glad you like it.”

Just as Joyce finished speaking, Dylan walked in.

He had an effortless authority about him that instantly changed the mood in the conference room. The light, easy conversation vanished, replaced by a sudden formality, as if the space belonged to him alone.

Dylan sat down smoothly, his gaze sweeping over both women. “How’s the partnership discussion going?”

Joyce offered a smile. “I’ve really enjoyed talking with Ms. Taylor. Not only is she lovely, but she’s incredibly capable.”

Rebecca felt a little embarrassed. “Thank you, Ms. Gellar. That’s very kind.”

Joyce just laughed, “I’m only telling the truth. Raina, your husband is one lucky guy—having someone as talented as you for a wife is a real blessing.”

Rebecca’s cheeks burned. She glanced at Dylan, who seemed as impassive as ever.

She said it so casually, but her eyes sparkled with anticipation as she looked at Rebecca.

But the mention of bringing Samuel made Rebecca hesitate.

Dylan knew Samuel. If the two of them met, wouldn’t that…

Chapter 342 3

Dylan gave a slight nod and was just about to say he didn’t mind, when Rebecca cut in. “I mind.”

Both of them froze, turning to look at her, frowning in surprise.

“Why?” Joyce asked, obviously taken aback.
