The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 310

At that moment, an idea flashed across Ethan’s mind.

Clutching his little fishing rod and bucket, he dashed over to Uncle Samuel. With a determined flick, he cast his line right next to Samuel’s.

“Ethan, what are you doing?” Samuel asked, raising an eyebrow.

Grinning mischievously, Ethan replied, “Uncle Samuel, you’re catching way too many fish—looks like they’re all hanging out on your side! There aren’t any rules about where we’re supposed to fish, right? You don’t mind if I join you here, do you?”

Samuel let out a helpless laugh. “Of course I don’t mind. Come on, join your uncle.”

Ethan beamed triumphantly and, watching Samuel closely, began to imitate his technique.

He had to admit, this little trick actually worked. After a while, Ethan finally felt a tug on his rod—a fish had bitten!

He jumped up and down in excitement, shouting, “Wow, I told you all the fish are over here with Uncle Samuel! Noah, Aiden, Evan—come quick!”

The other kids couldn’t sit still a moment longer. In a flash, they all swarmed over to Samuel’s side.

Within seconds, Samuel was surrounded—practically squeezed off his own bench. Someone bumped him hard enough that he nearly slid right off the seat.

“Hey, slow down, don’t crowd Uncle Samuel!” Rebecca called out from nearby, half exasperated, half amused.

But the kids paid her no mind, their eyes glued to the shimmering water, each one determined to catch a fish of their own.

“I want to catch a fish too! I’m going to beat Uncle Samuel,” Evan declared, casting his rod with renewed energy.

“Me too! I bet I’ll land the biggest one!” Aiden added, not to be outdone.

Splash! Splash! With all their fussing and commotion, quite a few fish scattered away.

Rebecca considered for a second. “Let me get Samuel. He’s the expert around here.”

Joyce nodded, glancing instinctively over at Samuel, who was still caught up in the chaos with the kids.

Rebecca made her way over, spoke a few words to Samuel, and soon returned with him.

Samuel approached Joyce and asked gently, “What’s wrong? Trouble with your rod?”

Joyce nodded shyly. “Yeah, something’s off. I’m not really sure how to fix it…”

Samuel took the rod, examined it closely, and quickly set to work. His hands were steady and sure; within moments, he’d fixed the hook.

Then, with a practiced flick, he cast the line out, demonstrating for Joyce how to do it just right.
