Dylan shot him a cold glance. “There’s nothing worth seeing.”
Thomas just raised an eyebrow, unconcerned. What was Dylan so wound up about? It wasn’t like Thomas was trying to steal the fairy for himself.
“How can you say that?” Thomas grinned. “If this ‘fairy’ is important enough for Fitch and Jonas to go to war over, she must have something special.”
Dylan snorted. “Those two are just thinking with their hormones, that’s all.”
Thomas chuckled. “You really are a cold one, you know that? But I’d bet you’re at least a little curious about this ‘fairy’ yourself.”
Dylan glared at him. “Don’t talk nonsense.”
Thomas shrugged. “Alright, alright, just teasing. Don’t get all worked up. Still, I’m pretty curious to see who’ll win the prize in the end.”

The next morning, Rebecca Thomson arrived at the office as usual.
Director Porter walked over unexpectedly, clapping his hands to get everyone’s attention. “Alright folks, let’s pause what we’re doing for a moment. Ms. Yates from the admin team has something she’d like to say.”
All eyes turned to Garcia Yates.
Garcia stood up from her desk, visibly nervous, her face pale and her eyes anxious.
Everyone assumed she was about to announce some exciting news, so a few people started clapping, encouraging her to step forward.
Garcia looked like she’d rather be anywhere else. She clutched the hem of her blouse, her knuckles white.
She glanced over at Rebecca, her face a mask of reluctance, but with Director Porter watching, she had no choice but to walk to the front of the room.
She bowed to Rebecca again.
Rebecca frowned, her thoughts sharp: That’s her idea of a sincere apology?
She didn’t sense even a hint of genuine remorse.
Director Porter looked momentarily thrown. He stepped up next to Garcia and whispered, “Ms. Yates, you’re not finished yet.”
But Garcia stubbornly shook her head. “I said everything I needed to.”
She turned to the rest of the office and added, “We shouldn’t accuse anyone of theft without proper investigation. Since there’s no real evidence, we have no right to blame Raina.”
A colleague spoke up, voicing what everyone was thinking: “But the wallet was found in Raina’s bag. How do you explain that?”
