Dylan frowned slightly and said, “Then let’s find some time to visit your grandfather at your family’s place.”
Rebecca pressed her fingers to her forehead, exasperated.
Seriously, what was with Dylan’s sudden insistence on visiting her grandfather? There was no real reason for him to go out of his way like this.
She thought for a moment, then replied, “But I’ve been really busy lately. I honestly don’t have the time.”
Dylan’s frown deepened. “Busy with what? Dennis told me you spend most of your days either looking after the kid or out shopping and getting facials.”
Rebecca’s eyes widened in disbelief. Trust Dennis to spill everything to Dylan.
Now what excuse could she possibly use?
Her mind raced, trying to come up with a convincing reason to refuse him.
Clearing her throat, she said, “Well, I used to shop and go to the spa, but things have changed. I’m actually taking a new class right now, so I really don’t have time to go with you. If you want to visit Grandpa, you’ll have to go alone.”
Dylan narrowed his eyes. “What class? Why the sudden interest in taking a course?”
Rebecca’s heart skipped a beat—she hadn’t expected him to press for details. She hurried to answer, “It’s a cooking class. I’ve always been interested in learning to cook, so I decided to give it a try.”
Dylan’s tone turned flat. “Learning to cook doesn’t mean you can’t visit your grandfather. We could go after your class.”
Rebecca gritted her teeth, fell silent for a moment, then tried again. “Actually, I have other things going on too. I’m helping a friend plan her wedding.”
Dylan’s brows knit together. “You have to be involved in every part of the planning?”
But she had no choice but to keep lying.
Maybe sneaking into the Frost Group under a false identity had been a mistake from the start.
Still, she never could have imagined that her boss would turn out to be her own husband.
Shaking off her thoughts, she remembered there was still something she needed to take care of at the hospital.
After work, once she was sure Dylan was still at the office working late, Rebecca caught a cab straight to the hospital.
She had barely left when Mrs. Austin walked into the company.
