The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 261

Dylan noticed something off about Rebecca. He frowned slightly and asked, “Raina, is something bothering you? You seem distracted.”

Rebecca quickly looked away, shaking her head. “It’s nothing, Mr. Austin. Please, go on…”

Dylan didn’t look convinced. His brow furrowed again, clearly displeased by Rebecca’s lack of focus.

Just then, Joyce approached.

She wore a graceful white dress, her long hair falling elegantly over her shoulders, exuding a quiet confidence.

Joyce spotted her father, Marico, deep in conversation nearby. Smiling, she made her way over to him. “Dad, are these the distinguished guests you mentioned?” Her voice was bright and melodic, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Marico nodded and gestured toward Dylan and Rebecca. “Yes. This is the renowned Mr. Austin, and this is his assistant, Raina.”

Turning to Dylan and Rebecca, he added, “And this is my daughter, Joyce.”

There was unmistakable warmth in Marico’s gaze as he looked at his daughter.

Once the introductions were complete, Joyce stepped forward with a friendly smile. “It’s a pleasure to meet you both.”

Dylan inclined his head politely. “Ms. Gellar, nice to meet you.”

Rebecca nodded as well, offering a quiet greeting.

Joyce’s eyes lingered on Dylan and Rebecca, her curiosity evident. She knew her father had exacting standards, and anyone he called a “distinguished guest” had to be remarkable.

“Mr. Austin, I’ve heard so much about you,” Joyce said genuinely. “You’re even more impressive in person than I imagined.”

Dylan offered a modest smile. “You flatter me, Ms. Gellar.”

Joyce turned to Rebecca. “And Ms. Raina, you’re lovely. You must be incredibly talented to serve as Mr. Austin’s assistant.”

Rebecca blushed slightly. “Thank you, Ms. Gellar, but I’m just doing my job.”

Understanding, Rebecca smiled at Joyce. “Sure, I’d love to.”

The two women strolled through the hall together. On the way, Joyce pointed out various guests and explained the details of the charity gala. She even guided Rebecca over to the refreshment table, where they each picked up a plate of food.

They found a comfortable spot to sit and chat.

“So, Raina, do you have any hobbies?” Joyce asked, genuine interest in her voice.

Rebecca considered for a moment. “I enjoy reading and listening to music. Sometimes I’ll work out as well.”

Joyce’s face lit up. “I love books and music too! Seems like we have a lot in common.”

The conversation blossomed from there, and soon both were laughing and sharing stories.

At one point, Joyce confided, “I’ve always wanted to make my mark in business, just like my father.”
