Emma was unfazed. “So what if she’s the Thomsons’ adopted daughter? Does that mean she can just walk all over us? We work hard every day here at Sunset Villa Estates—what gives her the right to treat us like dirt? I can’t stand the way she struts around, acting like she owns the place.”
Crystal’s face was flushed with anger. All her life, she’d never been treated this way by a servant, and the humiliation made her blood boil. She lunged for Emma, grabbing at her in a wild attempt to claw and shove. “You’ve already crossed me—now you’re scared? Too late for that... You need to be taught a lesson today!”
In the tussle, Emma shoved Crystal hard, sending her sprawling backward. Crystal toppled to the floor, coughing and choking as she tasted dust.
“How dare you push me!” Crystal’s eyes blazed with fury as she struggled to get up, only to wince from the pain jolting through her body. The humiliation stoked her anger even more—she wanted nothing more than to make Emma pay.
But Emma stood her ground, glaring at her. “So what if I pushed you? You swung first—I was just defending myself. Don’t think being the Thomsons’ adopted daughter gives you the right to act like a tyrant. This isn’t your playground. If you insist on getting physical, don’t expect me to just stand by and take it.”
Crystal gritted her teeth, her voice dripping with venom. “Just you wait. I promise you, you won’t get away with this.”
Emma shot her a defiant glare. “I’m not scared of you. Go ahead, show me what you’ve got. So what if you’re the adopted daughter? That doesn’t make you special. Who’s afraid of who here?”
Crystal was shaking with rage, nearly losing control. “Shut your mouth, you worthless servant! You’re nothing but a dog in this house, and you dare talk to me like that?”
Crystal shoved Jack away, her voice icy. “Talk? There’s nothing to discuss. You’ll both regret this—I won’t let you off so easily.”
Seeing Jack trying to help Crystal, Emma was fuming. She hurried over and pulled Jack to her side. Jack turned to Emma, helpless. “Emma, why did you have to go that far? Now we’re really in trouble. Crystal’s part of the Thomsons—we can’t afford to get on her bad side.”
Emma brushed him off. “What’s there to be afraid of? What can she do to us? We didn’t do anything wrong—she started it, we just defended ourselves.”
Upstairs, Aiden was just about to head down for a glass of water when the shouting from below caught his attention.
