The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 198

Dylan listened to the dial tone, his brow tightening with frustration.

He understood Fitch’s temperament all too well—once Fitch set his mind to something, there was no changing it.

But Dylan also couldn’t just stand by and watch Fitch spiral out of control. Not only would it throw the company into chaos, but it might also leave Raina in an even more awkward position.

His thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. Director Porter stepped in and said, “Mr. Austin, there’s an urgent meeting you need to attend.”

Putting aside his worries for the moment, Dylan refocused on work.

By the time the meeting wrapped up, the office was emptying out for the day. Dylan returned to his office and barely had a moment’s rest when his phone buzzed again—a message from Fitch: *Dylan, I’m already downstairs waiting for Raina.*

Was he actually proud of himself?

Dylan’s expression darkened. He grabbed his jacket and strode out of his office.

Sure enough, when he reached the building’s entrance, he spotted Fitch standing on the sidewalk, clutching an extravagant bouquet and scanning the crowd.

Rebecca exited the building and stopped short, surprised by the scene in front of her.

Fitch hurried over, holding out the flowers. “Raina, these are for you.”

This time, the bouquet wasn’t ordinary. The flowers were crafted from gold—eye-catchingly expensive.

Rebecca frowned. “Fitch, haven’t I told you already? Stop chasing me. Please, don’t waste your energy—I’m not going to say yes. And here’s the necklace you gave me.” She pressed the gift box into his arms without ceremony.

But Fitch wouldn’t let it go. “Raina, I never take back a gift I’ve given. If you don’t want it, should I just toss it in the trash?”

The standoff was escalating when Dylan stepped forward. “Fitch, how long are you planning to drag this out?”

Fitch turned to glare at him. “Dylan, this is between me and Raina. Stay out of it.”

And as for Dylan—he couldn’t even handle something like this. How did he have the nerve to be the CEO?

After she disappeared, Fitch clenched his jaw in frustration. “That woman’s got quite the temper.”

Dylan shot him a fierce glare. “That’s because you keep harassing her. Anyone would lose their patience.”

Fitch shrugged, undeterred. “Don’t put this all on me. If you hadn’t interfered, she’d already be with me.”

Crossing his arms, Fitch leveled a challenging look at Dylan. “You keep blocking me—don’t tell me you have no feelings for her.”

Dylan’s expression grew cold. “Fitch, don’t start imagining things. I just don’t want you losing your mind over a woman.”

Fitch let out a derisive laugh. “Sure, keep telling yourself that. But I know there’s more going on with you.”
