The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 109

Ethan was so furious that he nearly shouted, but Noah clamped a hand over his mouth just in time. Noah shot a meaningful look at Louis, who immediately hoisted the two little boys down from the garden wall.

Seeing that they were safe and sound, Louis let out a sigh of relief.

As soon as their feet touched the ground, Ethan and Noah hurried over to join Aiden and Evan.

Aiden, clearly anxious, asked, “Well? What happened? Did you hear anything?”

Ethan, cheeks flushed with indignation, poured out everything he’d overheard. “That mean old lady—she wasn’t just saying nasty things about Mom, she even wants to find another woman for Dad to have a baby with!”

Evan’s eyes widened in disbelief. “What? Really? But Dad and Mom are already married. If he has a baby with someone else, that’s called cheating. That’s just wrong.”

Noah’s face was grave. He stayed quiet for a moment before speaking in a low voice. “Ethan’s telling the truth. Every word.”

Aiden’s eyes brimmed with disappointment, his voice tinged with sadness. “How could Grandma do something like that? That’s just too much. Even if she doesn’t know about us, she shouldn’t try to get Dad to have a baby with another woman. It’s not fair to Mom.”

Ethan clenched his little fists. “She doesn’t deserve to be our grandma. From now on, let’s call her Grumpy Granny!”

Evan huffed, crossing his arms. “If that’s how it is, then we don’t need that grandma at all.”

Ethan puffed up, still fuming. “Exactly. We don’t want Grumpy Granny as our grandma—and I don’t want that woman, Garcia, to have a baby with Dad, either.”

Noah nodded, his voice steady. “Right. We have to stop Grumpy Granny’s plan. If Dad has a baby with some other woman, he won’t love Mom anymore.”

There was a flicker of worry in his eyes.

Ethan folded his arms with authority. “First things first—we have to deal with Grumpy Granny and that other woman. We can’t let anyone else have a baby with Dad.”

Evan nodded, acting all grown-up. “Looks like it’s up to us to protect Mom’s happiness.”

Noah looked at his brothers, his expression serious. “Ethan, Aiden, Evan—we need a solid plan.”

The other boys nodded in agreement. “Right!”

Louis, watching the cluster of little boys whispering together, grew nervous. He hurried over, worried about whatever scheme they might be hatching. “Young sirs, shouldn’t we be heading home now?”

Ethan, not wanting Louis to interrupt, waved him off impatiently. “What’s the rush? You go wait over there. We’re not finished talking yet!”
