Claire's POV
"He's still your fated mate!" Sierra's disbelief echoed through the pack-link.
"That bond is severed." I ended the connection.
My crystal-screen immediately lit with Scarlett's mark. I let it fade.
Her voice-echo arrived instead: "Release him fully! Command your wolf to free his beast!"
Her tears meant nothing to me now.
His wolf would learn to accept our rejection. The ancient laws dictated that time would heal the broken bonds.
I placed the crystal down, rushing from my room. My wolf needed to run, her spirit troubled by news of our former mate's wolf.
*Peace, Ava. Another Moon-Blessed will claim us.*
*But Shadow misses us,* she whimpered, naming Dominic's wolf who had always cherished us when allowed freedom.
*Dominic stopped shifting because Shadow loved us too deeply while he desired Scarlett,* Luna revealed our mate's final betrayal.
I gasped at this truth. *Then let him have his Beta. We've broken those chains.*
"Planning a night run?" Ajax's Beta voice broke through my thoughts.
I turned to see him. "Join me?"
"Gladly!" His wolf energy sparked with joy.
Terra entered, her eyes bright. "Did someone say run?"
"Moon chase!" Three pups watching the night-crystal called out - two sisters and their brother, all eight seasons old. Their enthusiasm reminded me of my own first shift at that age, when the moon goddess first blessed me.
I smiled warmly. "All are welcome."
"Perfect!" The male pup bounced while his sisters yipped excitedly.
Ajax's Beta authority emerged. "Stay within pack bounds, young ones."
"Yes, Beta!" Their unified response carried proper respect.
*Who?* I questioned as I halted.
*Too distant for clear scent, but known to us,* she cautioned.
A massive silver wolf appeared - one I knew too well.
Before I could flee, he shifted to human form, grasping my ear in dominance.
"Shift!" His Alpha command forced my change.
"Dominic! How dare you enter this territory?!" I challenged, pulling free.
His dark gaze held no emotion, yet his voice cut like ice. "Why are you leaving? Why reject our sacred bond?"
I lifted my chin. "Our mate-bond died when Scarlett became your Beta. I merely formalized its death."
He scoffed. "Formalized? Sierra told you of Shadow's madness, yet you abandoned us."
His pain finally showed. "How could you treat me like this?"
