Chapter 556
Harold coughed. Blood trickled from his nose and split his lip. Still, he let out a weak laugh-thin, broken, but stubborn.
Cale leaned down slightly.
“Do you know the consequences of what you’ve done?” His voice was low, heavy with pressure. “Because of you, my family lived under constant fear for weeks. The children were watching. The house guarded day and night. Our name dragged through the mud everywhere.”
He grabbed the front of Harold’s bloodstained, wrinkled shirt, pulling him forward.
“And you think you still have the right to threaten anyone?”
Harold met his gaze without flinching. “You’re too emotional,” he murmured. “That’s your weakness.”
Cale released his collar with a rough shove.
“I’m not going to let you keep talking like that,” he said coldly. “And this time, the punishment you face won’t end here.”
Harold smirked. “You can beat me,” he said. “You can torture me. But out there, there are already plenty of people who believe one thing.”
He tilted his head slightly; his gaze fixed solely on Cale.
“That Eli is Chase’s daughter.”
The room seemed to grow colder. Chris watched Cale closely, but the man’s expression didn’t change at all.
Harold laughed again. He intended to shatter the calm Cale carried. His voice was weak, but his words came out clear. “Public opinion isn’t something you can pull back, Cale. Once people believe something, it’s almost impossible to change.”
Silence stretched for a few seconds. Then Cale straightened. “I don’t care what people believe today,” he said
flatly.
He held out his hand. One of the guards immediately stepped forward, handing him a bottle of water and a thick cloth to wipe away the blood on his skin.
“What matters,” Cale continued calmly, “is what they’ll know by the end of the day.”
He turned to one of the guards.
“Make sure he stays alive. But don’t make him comfortable. And prepare what I asked for.”
“Yes, sir.”
Without another glance at Harold, Cale turned and walked out. Chris followed him. The heavy iron door slammed behind them with a dull, final sound.
Once they were in the corridor, Cale pulled out his phone.

He dialed a number. The call connected to the second ring.
“Yes,” Daven’s voice came through from the other end.
“I just finished breakfast,” Cale said shortly. “And I need you to stay focused on the Callister Group.”
Daven paused. “You don’t want me to come?”
“No,” Cale replied firmly. “I’m handling Harold. You need it there. There’s a lot that still needs to be put back in order. Chris is on his way to your office.”
Daven let out a quiet breath. “Honestly, I feel like I’m missing the best part.”
A faint smile touched Cale’s lips. “You’ll see the results soon.”
Then his tone shifted, turning more serious.
“There’s only one thing you need to make sure of. Richard has everything ready?”
“I’ve already confirmed it,” Daven answered. “He’s been working since last night. The charges against Bret have been expanded. And for Harold and Selena, all the evidence is being gathered and organized.”
Cale stopped walking near a window that overlooked the parking area, where several guards were already preparing. His car was waiting as well, ready to take him to his next destination.
“I don’t want any gaps,” he said.
“There won’t be,” Daven replied. “Richard has prepared layered charges-premeditated murder, attempted murder, financial manipulation, abuse of power, conspiracy, and several other serious offenses. If everything goes according to plan, they won’t be getting out of prison anytime soon.”
Cale gave a small nod, even though Daven couldn’t see it. “Good.”
Daven spoke again, his tone calmer this time. “What about the next step?”
“The press,” Cale answered. “I just need to make sure they arrive on time.”
There was a brief pause at the other end. “In that case,” Daven said at last, “I’ll handle the turbulence on the company’s side completely.”
“Do that,” Cale replied. “The faster Callister stabilizes, the stronger our position will be. I’ve asked Dad to help with a few things related to our public image. I’m sure he’s already done something for you.”
“I owe all of you more than I can say.”
Cale clicked his tongue in mild annoyance. “My payment is a grand wedding with Lydia, Mr. CEO.”
