A Divorce He Regrets (Raina and Alexander) novel Chapter 371

ALEXANDER

Raina closed the door behind them and the four of us sat in a silence that was so heavy I could feel it pressing into my lungs. To think I believed that family was long buried in the past.

I broke the silence. “That boy, Kye,” I started, taking in a deep breath. “The one that's been hanging around Ava… well, he was shot at school today and when I asked for the boy’s name, Liam told me that it’s Kye Osborne.”

Dominic froze and I saw the color drained from his face, his jaw tightening. “He cannot be,” he muttered. “Not Nathan’s son… that’s impossible.”

“Did Nathan even have a son?” I asked bitterly. If he did… with who? And why didn’t we know?”

Faith leaned forward, her expression sharp. “It’s not with Eliza, is it?”

“No.” My reply came immediately, sounding harsh as the memory cut deeper than I expected. “Nathan killed Eliza… he wouldn’t have killed the mother of his own child.”

“Then who?” Raina whispered. “Adelaide?

“She’s dead too,” I muttered. “Both Eliza and Adelaide were working with Nathan at the time and they were both killed by him.

“So do we know anything or anyone else?” Dominic asked and I shook my head in response.

He rubbed his temples and let out a slow exhale. “Okay, let’s give him some time. And I’ll use that to find out what I can about the boy. In the meantime, keep Ava and Liam away from him.”

“But the boy saved Liam’s life,” Raina cut in, her voice strained. “He took a bullet for our son.”

Dominic’s eyes flickered, hard. “Yes, he saved Liam’s life as he should,” he muttered coldly. “Nobody would have come after Liam if not for Kye himself, so the bullet he took was his responsibility. He took what was owed.”

The lack of emotion in his voice silenced the room and Faith got up, brushing her skirt to smoothen it. “We’ll talk later,” she said briskly, and followed Dominic out.

Raina and I remained in that heavy quiet, the kind where every breath felt too loud and I could feel her tension through the mattress, the way her body leaned away as though it was trying to shield itself from the memories that were clawing at her mind.
