A Divorce He Regrets (Raina and Alexander) novel Chapter 383

My fork slipped from my fingers and the table wavered.

“Ava?” He called, his voice sounding distant. “Are you okay?”

“I… feel…” my tongue felt thick. “Weird…”

A wave of dizziness hit me so hard my vision doubled. I clutched the table, my breath shaky.

Across from me, Issac's expression shifted from concern to calmness… too calm and too prepared.

He pulled out his phone and dialed a number. “It’s done,” he murmured.

My heart lurched. What? What did he—

The world spun into darkness before I could finish the thought.

When I regained consciousness, it was slow… like rising from underwater. My head throbbed, my throat was fat and my limbs heavy. I tried to lift my hands, but they wouldn’t move.

That was when I felt the rope that was tight around my wrist, binding my hands behind the chair I was sitting on.

Panic shot through me so fast that it stole my breath and my eyes flew open.

I was in what looked like a warehouse. It was empty and cold with dim lights flickering overhead. Metal walls, concrete floor and dust was thick in the air making my heart pound wildly against my ribs.

Issac was sitting in front of me on a wooden crate, his elbows resting on his knees as he watched me like he was waiting for me to wake up.

“Finally,” he breathed out.

My voice came out harder. “What is this? Why… why am I tied up?”

He rubbed the back of his neck, almost embarrassed. “I… like you. A lot.”

“What?” My heart pounded harder. “Untie me, Issac. Now.”

“I can’t,” he whispered. “My family… were in trouble. Deep trouble. And someone offered to help us, but only if I brought you to them.”

My blood ran cold. “Do you even hear yourself? This is kidnapping.”
