A Divorce He Regrets (Raina and Alexander) novel Chapter 365

KYE

I tried to sleep but it never came. I just laid in bed with my arm flung over my eyes, my heart beating too fast as my mind replayed the truth I had uncovered like a broken record. Everything had been a lie. The Grahams weren’t the monsters I had been raised to hate. It was us… my family, my bloodline. They’re thieves, liars and murderers.

If I had known the truth earlier, Ava would have suffered the shit that I had put her through. Every cruel word and every punishment I gave her in the name of revenge hit me at that moment like bricks on my chest. It hurt so much thinking of how much I had put her through. If I’m feeling this way, then maybe… I do like her. Heck, I might even be in love with her.

I pushed the thought aside as Liam flashed in my mind… the drugs in his locker. If the drug test happened tomorrow… and it would because the coach said the other teams had been complaining that the way our team had been playing lately, it was as if we were using enhanced drugs. So to make sure that everything is fair, we would be checked every morning for every game just in case.

And if the packet of drugs was found in Liam’s, then he would go down for something he never touched all because of me. No, I can’t let that happen.

By the time I stood upright, sweat was already sticking to the back of my shirt and it was close to midnight but if I didn’t get it out now, tomorrow would be too late.

I practically ran out of the house, got in my car and drove like a madman back to school. My palms were slick against the wheel and my mind was racing with excuses, with plans and most importantly, I was panicking. I had worked it out… sneak in, slip into the locker room and take out the bag. No one would ever find out… no one would see.

But when I pulled up outside, my stomach dropped. Floodlights lit up the front entrance… security cars, men in uniforms were pacing around the gates like something out of a prison yard. I slowed down, dimmed the headlights and tried my best not to be obvious. Why the hell are there so many security men guarding the school at this hour?

My plan evaporated. I couldn’t even step foot inside and I clenched the wheel until my knuckles hurt, cursing under my breath. All I could do was turn around and drive back home.

Back in my room, the clock ticked louder than my heartbeat and I couldn’t even lie down nor could I sit. Every time I shut my eyes, I saw Liam’s locker swinging open, the coach pulling out the drugs, his career destroyed. And it’ll all be my fault.

Chapter 365 2

He gave me a look full of disgust, thinking that I had taken drugs. Well, I sure as hell didn’t. “Get the hell away from me, Kye. I’m not covering for your shit.”

Chapter 365 3

His face drained of color and for a moment, I thought that he would swing at me. “Why the fuck would you….?”

“No time,” I hissed. “Please, just help me fix it.”
