Then I remembered the other problem when I saw the people that wanted to do the check on us approach. Fuck.
The things I had slipped into Liam’s locker… a neat little packet of pills to ruin his golden boy image forever. I should remove it before then.
Only now… my stomach turned. If the Grahams hadn’t killed my father like I had been told and if my own family had dirtier hands than anyone, then framing Liam wasn’t just cruel… it was pointless. From the way uncle Dylan has been shouting, something is up and if I set Liam up now and then find out the whole truth later on, it would cause a lot of issues.
I muttered something about grabbing water and didn’t care if anyone heard me as I slipped away. With my heart pounding, I crept to the locker room and found it empty. Perfect.
I worked fast, yanking open the locker and retrieved the stash. For a second, I just stared at it, but I snapped out of it and tossed it into a forgotten corner behind the benches, burying it under crumpled towels. It’s gone and if it’s somehow found, they won’t know who it belongs to.
The door banged one and I heard voices. The team and Coach are here for the inspection. I slammed the door shut and forced my breathing to steady as they walked in.
“Are you good, Kye?” Coach asked as he narrowed his eyes at me. “Can you play tonight?”
I forced a smirk that I didn’t feel. “Yeah. I can play.”
A chill ran from my spine. “What are you talking about?”
“You had the perfect opportunity to hurt that Graham boy and to make him choke on his own privilege.” The calm cracked, replaced with razor edged anger. “And you blew it. You removed the drugs.”
My breath caught. How did he—?
