Unknown Divorce Revelation Beyond Time (Charlene and Thorne) novel Chapter 903

He strode over, smoothly scooping Jasmine up into his arms before turning his gaze to Charlene. "Have you decided where we're going for dinner?"

Startled, Charlene blinked. "Not yet."

"Take my car then? We can figure it out on the way."

She genuinely hadn't expected him to be back from his business trip—let alone show up for school pickup on the exact same day she did.

Her immediate instinct was to shoot down his offer and find some excuse to bolt. But she had literally just told Jasmine that she had a free schedule and promised her dinner...

Swallowing back her refusal, she forced a tight nod. "...Fine."

She tossed her keys to his driver and slid into the back of Thorne's sleek sedan.

It wasn't until the doors shut that Jasmine finally snapped out of her daze.

Sitting next to her mother in the backseat, she stared at Thorne, who had taken the wheel. Her little lips pressed into a thin line. "When did you get back?"

"Just got off the plane." He caught her eye in the rearview mirror. "You haven't greeted me since I got here. Say hi to your dad."

Jasmine glared right back at him through the reflection. She clearly wanted to pick a fight, but remembering her mom was sitting right there, she swallowed her attitude and mumbled, "Hi, Dad."

A faint smile touched his lips. "Good girl. What do you want to eat?"

She turned her head to stare out the window. "Whatever!"

Thorne shifted his gaze to Charlene in the mirror. "What are you in the mood for?"

She mirrored her daughter's body language, looking away. "I'm letting Minnie choose."

Keeping his eyes on the road, he said, "Your mom says it's up to you. If you don't pick something, I'm just going to pull into the nearest drive-thru."

Deep down, Jasmine was actually thrilled to have both her parents together today. Ignoring his threat, she scooted closer to Charlene, wrapping her arms around her mother's waist and leaning against her. "What do you want, Mom? I'll eat whatever you want."

"I'm good with anything, sweetie. I want you to pick." Charlene chuckled, gently stroking her hair. "Your dad and I just want to take you out for your favorite food. Tell him where you want to go."
