The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 62

Dennis’s voice was calm and polite.

Mrs. Thomson shot back immediately, “No, absolutely not. No one is taking my daughter anywhere.”

George turned to the staff and barked, “Show him out.”

Dennis stood there, visibly uncomfortable.

But to everyone’s surprise, Rebecca, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke up. Her voice was steady and clear: “I’ll go.”

The room froze in disbelief.

Shock flickered across Mrs. Thomson’s face, while George just looked confused.

Dennis’s eyes landed on Rebecca, taking in the flush on her cheeks, a fleeting hint of surprise passing through his gaze. But his professionalism kicked in, smoothing over any sign of emotion.

Rebecca looked at her parents, her expression grave. “I’ve made up my mind. I’m moving out.”

Mrs. Thomson stared at her, bewildered. “Rebecca, you…”

Rebecca turned, meeting her grandfather’s eyes with unwavering resolve. “The Thomson family gave me a home and raised me. I agreed to this engagement for the family’s future. But from this point on, I owe the Thomsons nothing.”

A heavy silence filled the living room.

Tears streamed down Mrs. Thomson’s face.

Just then, Rebecca’s brothers rushed in, only to catch her words at the doorway. They froze, fists clenched, eyes turning red at the rims.

Not one of them wanted to see Becky married off—least of all as a sacrifice for the family’s future.

Meanwhile, Crystal’s eyes brimmed with angry tears, her frustration boiling over.

It sounded like a verdict—Rebecca’s fate was sealed.

Tears were wiped away all around. Mrs. Thomson was inconsolable, her face streaked with tears.

The brothers glared at their grandfather, frustration and anger burning in their eyes.

Rebecca’s heart was a storm of emotions. She didn’t say another word, just looked at each person in turn, then nodded. “Alright.”

Dennis smiled, gesturing toward the door. “Ms. Thomson, shall we?”

At that, Crystal couldn’t hold back anymore—she burst into tears, furious and heartbroken.

Grandfather knew she liked Dylan. Why insist on marrying Rebecca off to him?

Now Rebecca not only got to marry Dylan, she’d be living with him too. How was it fair that she ended up with everything Crystal wanted?
