Crystal glanced at the four children tied up on the floor, a smug smile tugging at her lips. She turned to Borg and Cedric. “See? I told you—just follow my lead and you’d have these kids in your hands.”
Borg shot Crystal a satisfied look and nodded. “They look like they come from money. This time, we’ll be able to squeeze a hefty sum out of the Thomsons.”
Cedric grinned. “Exactly. We’re about to hit the jackpot—unless the Thomsons don’t care about their precious little darlings…”
Crystal reassured them, “Don’t worry. Those four are the apple of the family’s eye. There’s no way the Thomsons won’t pay up to get them back.”
She hesitated, then asked, “So, now that I’ve delivered the kids, can I go?”
Borg nodded. “Yeah, you’re free to leave.”
Crystal’s face lit up with relief. Finally!
She cast one last scornful glance at the children, her voice dripping with malice. “You little brats better pray for yourselves!”
With that, she turned and strode away, a spring in her step.
But she’d barely taken a few steps before Borg shot Cedric a look.
Cedric got the message instantly. He hurried after Crystal and, without warning, struck her from behind.
The world went dark for Crystal. She didn’t even get the chance to cry out before she slumped to the ground, unconscious.
Cedric quickly tied her up and dragged her to a corner outside the abandoned warehouse.
Borg gave a cold, mocking laugh. “You think you can just waltz out of here before the money’s in our hands? Not a chance.”
...
Ethan raised an eyebrow. “What exactly do you want us to do?”
Borg let out a cold laugh and pulled a phone from his pocket. “When I tell you to speak, you speak. All you have to do is record a little video—simple as that.”
Ethan nodded instantly. “Alright. I’ll cooperate.”
Borg blinked, surprised at how quickly Ethan agreed. He’d fully expected resistance, and had been ready to slap the kids around or even rough them up to get them to comply.
But Ethan’s ready agreement caught him off guard—and made things a whole lot easier.
A satisfied grin spread across Borg’s face. Everything was falling into place. He eyed the children greedily, already imagining the money in his hands.
Meanwhile, Cedric returned, having finished dealing with Crystal outside.
