She was just too curious—she had to know what exactly Dylan and Raina had been up to.
Dylan narrowed his eyes, his voice low. “Are you questioning me?”
Garcia shook her head. “No, it’s just… the whole office is talking. Everyone thinks there’s something going on between you and Raina…”
Dylan’s expression darkened. He hadn’t expected Garcia to turn the tables on him. “That’s my business. It has nothing to do with you.”
Garcia bit her lip. When it was rumors about her, he’d cleared them up instantly—why was it different when it came to Raina? Was Dylan really that much of a hypocrite? Or could there actually be something between him and Raina?
She clenched her jaw and pressed on. “Sir, I know I probably shouldn’t ask, but people are going to talk regardless. Right now, everyone in the company is gossiping about you and Raina. Don’t you think you owe us an explanation?”
Garcia looked up, watching him carefully. “I mean, I know you’re married. You have a family, so obviously there wouldn’t be anything improper between you and Raina. But the others don’t know that…”
Dylan’s face turned ice-cold, his gaze sharp as a blade, pinning Garcia in place. His voice was frigid. “There’s nothing going on between me and Raina. But if I hear another word of this rumor, I’ll hold you personally responsible. Understood?”
What?
Garcia froze, stunned that Dylan was actually blaming her for this.
“Sir, I wasn’t the one spreading rumors—”
The underling grinned. “Wow, Garcia, the boss really dotes on you.”
“Will do, Garcia,” the girl replied, before hurrying off to spread the news and help clear Dylan’s name.
Within minutes, the whole office had gotten the word. The whispers stopped; no one dared mention Dylan and Raina again.
But Garcia shot Raina a sidelong glance, scoffing to herself. Bitch. Good thing there’s nothing between you and the boss—otherwise, I wouldn’t have let you off so easily.
