The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 323

Noah frowned, his voice steady and cold. “We don’t need Mom to tell us what’s right and wrong. We know it ourselves. If you do something wrong, you should face the consequences.”

Crystal’s face twisted in anger. “You little—”

Aiden cut her off, calm and earnest. “Mom’s only doing this because she hopes you’ll change and become a better person.”

Evan chimed in, his tone gentle but firm. “Aunt Crystal, one day you’ll understand why we’re doing this. Don’t give up.”

Ethan arched an eyebrow, a mischievous grin on his lips. “Yeah, we hope you see the light sooner rather than later. Maybe then you’ll be as mature as us. Na-na-na-na-na!”

With that, Ethan stuck out his tongue and made a silly face at Crystal.

Crystal was so furious she nearly choked.

Seeing Crystal’s flustered and exasperated expression, Rebecca realized things were about to spiral out of control. She quickly took the four kids by the hand. “Come on, sweethearts. We’ve said what needed to be said. What she does now is up to her.”

The four children nodded in unison, following obediently behind their mother as they left.

Crystal scoffed, her voice shrill with frustration. “You say it’s for my own good? You’re all just waiting to see me make a fool of myself. And you, Rebecca—don’t think I don’t know what you’re after! You just want me out of the Thomson family so you can have everything for yourself!”

Her accusation echoed through the hall, sharp and bitter. But her words hadn’t gone unnoticed—Samuel had heard every bit.

He approached, calm but cutting right to the heart of the matter. “Why would Rebecca need to fight you for anything? The Thomson family’s inheritance was always meant to be hers.”

Samuel’s words hit Crystal like a bucket of ice water, leaving her shaken to the core.

“Why is it always Rebecca? Why do you all love her and not me? What does she have that I don’t?” Crystal demanded, her voice thick with resentment.

But Samuel’s reply crushed the last of her hopes. “She’s better than you in every way.”

With that, Samuel turned and walked away, leaving Crystal alone, her fists clenched in fury.

In her eyes, everyone was taking Rebecca’s side. No one was ever fair to her.

“They all act so righteous, but it’s just favoritism. Hmph. Rebecca, one day I’ll make you pay. I’ll be the one on top.”

Still seething, Crystal stormed off to the car. Only when she saw the trunk filled with several large boxes did her mood lift, if only a little. She immediately told the driver to go.
