The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 32

“Wow, Rebecca, you’re seriously living the dream!”

Isabella’s cheerful voice came through the phone again.

Rebecca wasn’t in the mood to keep talking about herself, so she changed the subject without missing a beat. “So, Bella, have you figured out your job situation yet?”

There was a brief pause on the other end, then Isabella sighed. “Not yet. It’s my first time moving to London—I don’t know anyone, and landing a job here isn’t exactly easy.”

Rebecca smiled softly. “Don’t worry. I’ll take care of it for you.”

Isabella brightened immediately and didn’t even try to be modest. “That’s amazing! I don’t know what I’d do without you, bestie.”

Rebecca chuckled. “By the way, do you have a particular company in mind?”

There was a moment’s hesitation, then Isabella admitted, a little embarrassed, “You know I studied medicine, right? For someone in my field, the biggest dream is to work at Wye General Hospital…”

Rebecca replied without hesitation, “No problem at all. My brother William works there. I’ll talk to him, and you can just show up for your first day.”

On the other end, Isabella let out a squeal of excitement. “Rebecca, you’re incredible—I love you to pieces! Kisses, kisses, kisses!”

Rebecca couldn’t help laughing. “Bella, aren’t you laying it on a bit thick? I’m just helping you get a job, that’s all.”

But Isabella wouldn’t let it go. “Just a job? This is my dream job! Wye General is practically impossible to get into. And you sorted it with a phone call—honestly, you’re my guardian angel!”

Rebecca shook her head, half amused, half exasperated. “Alright, alright, enough with the compliments. You’re going to make me blush. But are you really ready for this? Wye isn’t exactly a walk in the park.”

Isabella replied, her tone firm, “I’m ready! I promise I’ll work hard and won’t let you down.”

Rebecca nodded. “Good. I believe in you. And hey, as long as I’m around, if you ever run into any trouble, just tell me—I’ve got your back.”

Isabella was so moved she nearly burst into tears. “Thank you, Rebecca. With you by my side, I feel like I can take on the world!”

The two friends chatted a while longer before finally hanging up.

As Rebecca set her phone down, she felt a rush of anticipation. Isabella’s arrival was the one thing she was genuinely looking forward to lately.

A little later, Rebecca sent Isabella a text: “Bella, just go straight to Wye General tomorrow morning. Everything’s arranged.”

When Isabella saw the message, she was so moved she almost cried, rolling around on her bed in excitement.

...

In the executive office, the only sound was the steady tapping of keys.

Dylan was absorbed in paperwork, eyes never leaving the screen. Suddenly, a gentle knock—three taps—broke the silence.

Without looking up, Dylan said coolly, “Come in.”

The door opened slowly, and someone stepped inside.

The man wore a flamboyant suit, his blue hair glinting under the lights—a walking statement piece if there ever was one.
