The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 308

Evan piped up, “Uncle Samuel, what are we betting on today?”

Samuel arched an eyebrow, grinning. “You tell me—what should the stakes be?”

The four kids exchanged glances, scratching their heads and trying to come up with a way to really cash in on Uncle Samuel this time.

Noah spoke first. “Uncle Samuel, I’ve got my eye on that new resort project. If I win, you have to promise not to compete with me for it.”

Samuel nodded approvingly. “Deal. It’s rare to see you so ambitious, Noah. If you win, I’ll stay out of your way.”

Not that it was much—just a cool ten million in annual profits.

Ever since the family split their assets, these little rascals had started muscling in on his business.

Next, Ethan chimed in, “Uncle Samuel, if I win, you have to buy me a feast tonight.”

Samuel chuckled. “That’s all you want?”

Ethan spread his arms wide in protest. “I want foie gras, steak, escargot, pudding—a whole mountain of food!”

Samuel gave in with a fond smile, and immediately turned to his assistant. “Go get the kitchen ready,” he whispered.

Aiden spoke up quietly. “If I win, I want you to promise me something.”

Samuel’s curiosity was piqued. “What is it?”

Aiden’s eyes sparkled with mystery. “I’ll tell you when I win.”

Samuel agreed right away. “Alright. Evan, what about you?”

Evan mulled it over. “I want to go somewhere.”

Samuel raised a brow. “That’s easy. Wherever you want to go, Uncle Samuel will take you.”

But Evan just flashed a mischievous grin. “I want to ride a spaceship and meet aliens.”

Samuel wiped his brow theatrically. “Now you’re just making things hard for me! It’d be easier to turn me into an alien myself.”

Evan put his hands on his hips. “What, Uncle Samuel—trying to back out?”

Samuel relented. “I promise I’ll take you on a spaceship. But whether we actually meet aliens, well, that’s out of my control.”

Samuel grinned. “That’s the spirit.”

Just then, Joyce caught sight of the four identical boys in front of her and froze in shock.

“Ethan?” she blurted out.

No, there were four of them…

She turned to Rebecca. “Are all four yours?”

Rebecca nodded. “Yes, they’re quadruplets.”

Joyce’s jaw dropped. It took her a moment to process. Quadruplets were rare enough, but these four—so clever and adorable—were irresistible.

Suddenly, Ethan called out, “Hey, pretty lady! You’re here too?”

Joyce waved with a smile. “Hi, Ethan.”

She turned to Rebecca and explained, “He’s the sweet boy I told you about at the gala. What a small world!”
