Garcia sobbed as she spoke. “Mrs. Austin, Mr. Austin wants to fire me. I don’t even know what I did wrong. Why is he treating me like this?”
Mrs. Austin listened to Garcia’s tearful complaint, clearly troubled herself. “Garcia, this… it’s difficult for me too. But I’m trying to find a solution, I promise. As long as I’m here, he won’t dare let you go.”
Hearing this, Garcia felt a bit reassured. “Thank you for always being on my side, Mrs. Austin. I know you mean well. But I think I should do something myself.”
Mrs. Austin looked at her curiously. “What do you have in mind?”
Garcia narrowed her eyes slightly, then calmly shared her plan.
After hearing Garcia’s idea, Mrs. Austin brightened. “Garcia, I knew I wasn’t wrong about you. You’re thoughtful, capable—Dylan will see your worth sooner or later.”
Garcia nodded, a faint smile lifting the corners of her mouth.
...
A while later, Garcia pushed open the door to the CEO’s office once again.
Dylan looked up with a frown, clearly impatient. “Why are you here again? Didn’t I instruct Director Porter to let you go?”
But Garcia remained calm, walking up to his desk without a hint of anger. She took out a folder and placed it in front of him.
Dylan glanced at it coldly. “What’s this?”
Garcia offered a gentle smile. “My father wanted me to tell you how grateful he is to Mrs. Austin for giving me a chance at Frost Group. So he’s willing to work with you, Mr. Austin. These projects together could bring in as much profit as the company makes in a whole year. All he asks is that you keep me on. What do you think of this deal?”
Dylan waved her away. “You can go now.”
Garcia bowed gratefully and left the office, her steps light with happiness.
Watching her leave, Dylan frowned, sinking deep into thought. He didn’t fully trust Garcia’s words, but there was no denying the value these projects could bring to the company.
It was a chance to boost profits and solve a problem at the same time—a win-win.
After a moment, he picked up the phone and dialed a number.
On the other end, a steady voice answered, “Dylan, what’s going on?”
