The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 279

The moment the brothers gathered, the air grew heavy, worry etched across every face.

After hearing about their grandfather’s illness, Matthew was the first to speak. “I’ve already reached out to some of the top research institutes, both here and abroad, to see if there are any cutting-edge treatments or breakthrough cancer drugs.”

Samuel chimed in, “I’ve found the best medical team and the most advanced equipment available. No matter the cost, we’ll make sure Grandpa gets the best care possible.”

William added, “I know a leading oncologist. I’ve already spoken to him—he promised to draft a treatment plan as soon as possible and do everything he can to extend Grandpa’s life.”

With Matthew, Samuel, and William all putting forward their ideas, Michael hesitated before speaking up softly, “I don’t know anything about medicine. I’m not much help… Maybe I could do some of the personal care for Grandpa? You know, help him with whatever he needs?”

The others turned to look at him, their expressions complicated.

William said, “That’s not necessary, Michael. Grandpa has lung cancer—he’s not bedridden.”

Michael fell silent, lips pressed tightly together.

Just then, Samuel asked, “Does Becky know about Grandpa yet?”

William shook his head. “Not yet.”

He’d been worrying—if Becky found out just how serious Grandpa’s illness was, she’d be devastated.

Matthew frowned slightly, thinking for a moment before saying, “Let’s not tell Becky for now. No need to upset her before we have to.”

The others murmured their agreement.

Samuel nodded. “Exactly. There’s no rush. Once we have a better plan, we can bring her in.”

Michael agreed, “Yeah, telling Becky now would just make her anxious. Let’s focus on finding a solution first.”

After a brief pause, Samuel spoke again. “What about Dad? Should we tell him?”

Back home, the four little ones were just as worried about their great-grandfather.

They stayed quietly indoors, waiting for any news from their mom.

Noah kept making his way to the window, peering out, hoping to spot his mom coming home at last.

“Noah, do you think Great-Grandpa will be okay?” Ethan asked anxiously.

Aiden let out a sigh. “Even though Great-Grandpa can be a little stubborn—like when he tried to make Mom marry someone—I still really like him. He’s always been good to us.”

Evan nodded. “Yeah, I hope he’ll be all right.”

Noah’s voice was confident. “He will be. Mom will take good care of him. I know it.”
