The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 226

The four little rascals slipped into the room, their eyes darting mischievously around as they took in every detail.

Aiden plopped down beside Emily, fiddling with his handheld game and putting on an innocent tone, “Do you really like our family?”

Emily paused, then smiled. “Of course, sweetheart, I like your family very much. How about I become your aunt someday?”

Aiden looked puzzled. “Aunt?”

Emily chuckled. “That’s right. I like your family, and I like all four of you. Wouldn’t it be fun if I became your aunt?”

Just then, Evan glanced at Emily’s worn clothes and burst out laughing. “Ha! Why are you wearing such old clothes?”

Ethan chimed in, “Yeah, your outfit looks awful.”

Emily’s face flushed with embarrassment, but she didn’t dare say anything back. Forcing a smile, she replied, “I think it looks nice.”

Evan shook his head, making a face. “It’s hideous. My Uncle Michael would never go for someone with such terrible taste.”

Emily seized the moment. “Oh? So what kind of woman does your Uncle Michael like?”

Evan stroked his chin, pretending to think hard. “Well… Uncle Michael likes…”

Crystal noticed the commotion and snapped, “Have you troublemakers messed around enough? If you’re done, get downstairs—now!”

But the kids ignored her, circling Emily and pressing on. “Are you really poor? Is that why you dress so shabby?”

“I just wish we could get rid of Rebecca in one go. I’m sick of waiting. Don’t forget what you promised me, Emily,” Crystal’s voice said.

“Don’t worry, Crystal. I won’t forget,” Emily replied.

“Hmph, you wouldn’t dare back out. Once it’s done, the purse is yours—it’s a limited edition, worth more than ten grand,” Crystal threatened, switching to bribery.

The four exchanged worried glances, baffled by the secret plot.

Noah frowned. “They’re definitely up to something. We need to keep an eye on them.”

Ethan nodded in agreement. “Yeah. We can’t let them get away with it.”
