The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 219

Mrs. Thomson flushed with embarrassment and annoyance. “All you ever do is tease me.”

George burst out laughing. “Tease you? Darling, that’s just how I show my love.”

She nestled into his arms, her resistance melting away, and murmured, “Sweet talker.”

He gazed down at her, his eyes brimming with tenderness. “After all these years, you’re still just as beautiful to me.”

He wasn’t exaggerating. When Mrs. Thomson was young, she was a true beauty, outshining the film stars of her day. Even now, at fifty, she had an undeniable allure.

Mrs. Thomson glanced up at him, cheeks rosy. “Look at you—still so charming. You’ve kept yourself in better shape than most young men.”

George grinned even wider. “Just wait, darling. You’ll see my physique isn’t just for show—it’s got plenty of practical uses.”

She laughed, swatting at him. “Shameless old flirt.”

Seeing her face flushed red, George couldn’t help but feel a surge of affection. One hand slid down her back, gently unzipping her dress, revealing the graceful curve of her shoulders.

Just as he was about to kiss her, the door suddenly burst open, and the butler rushed in.

“Sir, ma’am—” the butler began breathlessly, but as soon as he took in the scene, he froze. George and Mrs. Thomson jumped apart, startled.

Mrs. Thomson quickly slipped out of George's embrace, smoothed her hair, and turned away to compose herself.

With a scowl, George barked, “What is it?”

The butler panicked, instantly regretting barging in. He’d just walked in on something he definitely shouldn’t have seen. Was this it for him? Would the Thomsons make sure he never spoke of it?

Stammering, the butler managed, “It—it’s the young miss. She’s...”

“My daughter? What about her? Out with it!” Mrs. Thomson pressed, her urgency clear.

The butler jumped. “I just got a call from Mr. Michael Thomson—he said Miss Rebecca is coming home, and she’s bringing the four grandchildren with her.”

Mrs. Thomson’s face lit up. “What? My sweet girl is coming home?”

George looked over the four children and beamed. “Well, look who’s here—my four adorable grandkids!”

The children ran to him, crowding around his legs and shouting in unison, “Hi, Grandpa!”

George couldn’t stop grinning. “Good kids. All of you.”

He shot Mrs. Thomson a playful look. “See? I told you not to rush.”

She rolled her eyes at him. “Our daughter’s home. How could I not?”

The whole family bustled inside, laughter and chatter filling the house.

But in the flurry of excitement, George and Mrs. Thomson seemed to have forgotten someone.

Left standing awkwardly on the front step, Michael gave a dramatic sigh. “Hey! Mom, Dad—did you forget you still have a son?”
