The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 150

Ethan scrambled down from his chair. “Mom, I want to go too!”

Aiden and Evan chimed in right away. “Me too! We want to go!”

Rebecca looked at them, eyebrow raised. “What’s gotten into you all today? Why are you suddenly so hungry?”

She didn’t think much of it, though. Propping her chin on her hand, she watched the kids dash off, resigned to waiting while they fetched themselves a snack.

The four kids hurried straight to a quiet corner.

Ethan shot the others a conspiratorial look and lowered his voice. “I just saw Grumpy Granny. She’s here, in that private dining room over there. And she’s having lunch with Dad—and she even brought that annoying Miss Jane!”

Noah’s expression immediately turned serious. “Ethan, are you sure you didn’t mistake her for someone else?”

Ethan nodded vigorously. “I saw it as clear as day. No mistake. Grumpy Granny is definitely trying to set Dad up with Miss Jane again. They’re already eating together—what’s next, a baby on the way?”

Aiden’s eyes widened in alarm. “Did they see you?”

Ethan shook his head. “Nope. I ducked out of sight just in time.”

Aiden balled his fists. “Looks like we didn’t warn them hard enough last time!”

Ethan agreed, crossing his arms. “Exactly. Some people just never learn until it really hurts.”

Evan stroked his chin, thinking hard. “Why do you guys think Grumpy Granny is so obsessed with finding Dad a new wife and, like, more kids?”

Ethan snorted. “She’s just bored. When people don’t have anything to do, they start meddling in other people’s business.”

Evan’s eyes sparkled with mischief. “Well, if that’s the case, why don’t we make sure she stays busy? If we keep her occupied, she won’t have time to play matchmaker for Dad.”

Aiden frowned, puzzled. “But how? What can we do to keep her busy?”

Evan grinned, a sly plan brewing. “I’ve got an idea. Here’s what we’ll do…”

Rebecca, so preoccupied with her search, rounded the corner without looking and ran straight into a solid wall of muscle.

She stumbled and fell into a strong embrace, both hands landing squarely on a very firm, very male chest.

For a split second, Rebecca was surrounded by an overwhelming sense of masculinity. She froze.

When she looked up and realized she’d barreled straight into Dylan, her mind went blank, and she panicked.

Dylan’s face darkened. He looked down at the flustered woman in his arms, a strange feeling flickering in his chest.

“What are you doing?” Dylan’s deep voice rumbled above her head, edged with barely restrained irritation.

Rebecca scrambled to free herself, but her nerves got the better of her, making her grip his shirt even tighter. Her hands bunched the fabric, clutching at him unintentionally.

Dylan’s frown deepened. “Are you going to let go or not?”
