The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 134

Isabella laughed. "Fine, since you refuse to go find Dylan, your dear stepdad, at least keep the little ones happy and stop being such an idle mom, okay? Hahaha..."

After hanging up, Rebecca fell into thought.

Suddenly, something clicked. She rummaged through her purse and pulled out the business card Jonas had given her a while back. Staring at the company name printed on it, an idea began to form in her mind.

Well, no one could accuse her of being idle now.

The next morning, after bundling the four kids into the car, Rebecca slung her bag over her shoulder, ready to head out as well.

The kids beamed at her. "Mommy, are you going to see Daddy today?"

Rebecca looked at their eager faces, her heart melting a little, though she couldn't help feeling amused and helpless. "That's right," she said, "Mommy's going to interview for a job at Daddy's company. This way, I can be closer to him."

Technically, Jonas was Dylan's cousin, so it was still the same company family-wise, right? She wasn't exactly lying to the kids.

Noah blinked up at her. "Go, Mommy! You can do it!"

Ethan nodded solemnly. "Yeah, Mommy's the best. If you get a job, you can buy us more yummy treats!"

Aiden planted a smooch on her cheek, his voice sweet and earnest. "That was a lucky kiss, Mommy. Good luck!"

Evan pumped his tiny fists in the air. "We'll be waiting for your good news, Mommy!"

Rebecca hesitated for a moment before replying, "I don’t want to have too much to do with Dylan."

Isabella’s voice jumped an octave. "So you’d rather get involved with Jonas? What if he recognizes you? I mean, you’re his cousin-in-law. Wouldn’t that be awkward?"

Rebecca narrowed her eyes, a sly smile playing on her lips. "He won’t figure it out. And even if he does, so what?"

Isabella sighed. "Honestly, Rebecca, with all the companies your family owns, and all the money you have, why bother working at Frost Group at all?"

Rebecca let out a long sigh. "That’s exactly why I can’t go home. You know how my parents are. They’re so worried I’ll tire myself out, they won’t let me lift a finger, let alone get a job. If I even mention working, my dad would just hand me a company outright, and I wouldn’t even have to run it—my brothers would take care of everything for me."
