The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 106

Dylan was in the car when his phone suddenly rang. Dennis was on the line, his voice tense and panicked.

“Mr. Austin, something’s happened at the office! A group of thugs just stormed in, took out security and the front desk. It’s chaos!”

Dylan’s brow furrowed. His tone dropped, calm but urgent. “What’s going on? Try to keep things under control—I’ll be there as soon as I can.”

He ended the call and immediately told the driver to turn the car around and head back to the company.

Minutes later, Dylan’s car screeched to a halt in front of the building. The moment he stepped out, he was greeted by utter havoc—debris strewn everywhere, a few battered security guards slumped on the curb, and the receptionist trembling, her eyes wide with fear.

To make matters worse, the gang—dressed in black—had disappeared without a trace after leaving their mark.

Dylan’s expression darkened, a cold edge flashing in his eyes. “Who did this?” he demanded. “Pull up the security footage. I want to see exactly who had the guts to cause trouble on my turf.”

Dennis hurried over, anxiety written all over his face. “Mr. Austin, we’re already checking the cameras, but—”

“But what?” Dylan snapped, his patience wearing thin.

“They seemed to know our system inside-out. The crucial footage has been wiped. There’s barely anything useful left,” Dennis replied, voice barely above a whisper.

Dylan let out a low, angry huff. “Then check the neighboring cameras. Ask around, see if anyone noticed suspicious people or vehicles nearby. I refuse to believe they covered every angle.”

Dennis nodded and rushed to carry out the orders.

At that moment, Dylan’s phone buzzed again. This time it was his mother.

“Dylan, when are you coming home? Everyone’s waiting for you!” Mrs. Austin’s voice was heavy with irritation.

Just then, Mrs. Austin emerged from the grand front doors to greet her, radiating elegance in a silk dress, sparkling with expensive jewelry, and beaming with warmth.

“Garcia, you’re here,” she called out.

The woman, Garcia, smiled as she took Mrs. Austin’s hand. “It’s so good to see you, ma’am.”

Not far away, the four kids huddled together, peeking curiously at the scene.

Ethan whispered, “Is that our grandma?”

Noah compared the woman at the door with a photo he’d seen online. “Yeah, that’s her—Dylan’s mom.”

Aiden, eyes wide, chimed in, “Who’s the lady with her? Grandma seems really happy to see her.”
