Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 1630

Leo’s work was humming along, everything ticking over as usual. Vincent—his old boss—was getting out of prison next year, the company was still standing, and the agreement Leo made with Lee all those years ago was still in force. With their faithful old clients hanging around, Golden Top had already landed a few long-term contracts.

Alyna finished her spreadsheets and went to find Leo. “We’re still in the red,” she said, tapping the contracts. “These three jobs aren’t enough to keep our R&D afloat.”

Chunky took one look at the numbers and gave up, passing the reports straight to Leo.

Leo didn’t need her to explain—he understood at a glance. He set the papers down. “The first steps are always hard. Don’t worry about it.”

Meanwhile, Anya had defended her thesis and graduated without a hitch.

Lost about what to do next, she called her dad. “Come home, sweetheart,” he said, “work with me.”

Anya immediately pictured herself being looked after every step of the way, just drifting along with her dad running interference for her. She knew she’d never actually learn anything that way.

Her aunt had been pushed by her mom to work hard, since she was meant to take over the company someday.

Her dad might have had hopes for her too, but Anya knew he’d never force her into something she didn’t want.

So she stayed put.

Most days, she hung around Leo’s place, not really sure what she was doing, but she was always home when Leo got back. Leo had his hands full at work and didn’t ask much about what she was up to.

Wayne, meanwhile, was a regular passenger on Grandpa Elmer and Grandma Aubree’s adventures. No more open-air theater for them—now they were off to see plays in big tents out in the countryside.

How’d the two of them get all the way out there with no ride? Simple: Grandpa Elmer drove.

Molly had bought the grandparents a little runabout, perfect for seniors. At first, they complained, “Molly, you wasted your money again,” and threatened to return it.

But once Molly taught them to drive, that car hardly ever sat still.

Grandpa Elmer and Grandma Aubree even squabbled over who got to drive, and Wayne became a regular in the back seat.

Chad didn’t hesitate. “Call Leo.”

Over at Golden Top, Leo picked up. “Yeah? Make it quick, I’m busy.”

“What? It’s your turn to lose a kid now?” Leo was floored.

It used to be his own little tiger cub disappearing at random—now it was Sweetie who’d gone missing.

Seriously, what was up with their family? The kids were always vanishing. The little rascal, sure, he loved to play hide and seek. But Sweetie? He was supposed to be the easy one!

Leo pulled up the location on his phone and sent it to the couple.

Alyna, watching all this from the side, asked, “What’s going on?”
