Stellan asked anxiously, “Father, what do we do now? If George is sentenced tomorrow, it’s all over. And then there’s Yvette and the others–it’s clear Sebastian won’t stop until he’s destroyed the Mildew family.”

Phineas chimed in from the side, “He’s right, Father. You have to find a way to save them. Your own grandchildren are in his hands.”

Arlo’s eyes turned icy. “It seems if we want to save George, I have only one move left to play.” He had to get George out; otherwise, the Mildew family was truly finished.

The following day.

Due to the high–profile nature of the case and the need to provide a formal resolution to both the public and Dracovia, George’s trial was held in open court.

The gallery was packed. Reporters and media outlets had arrived early, setting up cameras in hopes of securing a first–hand scoop. Sebastian and Lillian sat in their reserved seats, while Arlo, Stellan, and Phineas sat nearby.

When George was brought in, he confessed to all the charges without hesitation. This even surprised Lillian; given George’s cunning nature, she hadn’t expected him to plead guilty so easily.

Just as everyone thought the sentencing would proceed smoothly, George’s lawyer presented a report to the judge. It claimed that George suffered from severe schizophrenia, implying that his series of actions were beyond his control.

This sudden turn of events caught the entire courtroom off guard. It was then that Lillian had her realization–no wonder George had been so cooperative; they had been holding this card the entire time.

Sebastian looked toward Arlo, only to find the old man wearing a triumphant smirk, as if to say that no matter how far Sebastian went, the Mildew family would always be one step ahead.

After a deliberation based on the evidence, the court reached a verdict: because of the psychiatric diagnosis, George was found not guilty by reason of insanity. However, due to the nature of his condition, he was ordered to be confined to a high–security psychiatric hospital for treatment.

As the trial adjourned, George looked at Sebastian with a smug grin. “What do you think? Didn’t expect that, did you? So what if ! shot someone? I’m mentally ill; no one can touch me, not even Dracovia. After a short stay in the hospital, I’ll be out. When that happens, you’d better watch your backs. After all, you never know what a schizophrenic might do next.”

Beside him, Lillian’s smile was razor–sharp. “Is that so? Since you’re so eager to spend time in a mental asylum, so be it. It should be quite entertaining. Though, getting back out might be harder than you think.”

“What do you mean by that?” George asked, his suspicion piqued.

Lillian shrugged and smiled. “Oh, nothing. By the way, have you felt it these past two days? That constant fatigue, the sudden fits of agonizing itching, or perhaps those moments of confusion where you start seeing… strange things?”

George stared at her, terror creeping into his eyes. “How do you know about that?”

Lillian’s laugh was mocking. “My apologies. I didn’t fully explain the effects of that pill I gave you. Besides making you catatonic and causing your nerves to atrophy, it has one other little side effect: it induces genuine psychosis. So, your diagnosis wasn’t wrong. By a stroke of luck, you’re heading exactly where you belong.”
