“Is that so?” Lillian’s laugh was dripping with sarcasm. “As long as you believe it, Arlo. Regardless, that place is quite fitting for him. It’s certainly more interesting than a prison cell. I’m sure George will be very ‘grateful‘ to you by the time he’s finished there.”

“What are you implying?” Arlo demanded.

Lillian leaned in, her voice drops to a lethal whisper. “You thought that by inventing a way for him to escape a prison sentence, you’d placed him beyond my reach. Let me tell you: no matter where he is, I will collect every debt he owes for the blood he spilled. Every ounce of pain he caused my master will be returned to him. I hope you’re prepared for the consequences.” She turned and walked out without a second glance.

The trial of George Mildew ended abruptly with that psychiatric report, a conclusion that shocked the nation.
